CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 74 - ~~ <br />e : ~,~~ <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1357.11 <br />ENTITLED "EMERGENCY POWER AND LIGHTING" <br />OF CHAPTER 1357 ENTITLED "ELECTRICAL CODE" <br />OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED BY ADDING A NEW SUB-SECTION <br />"E" REQUIRING EMERGENCY POWER AND .LIGHTING <br />IN OFFICE BUILDINGS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, <br />COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That Section 1357.11 entitled "Emergency Power <br />and Lig tang of Chapter 1357 entitled "Electrical Code" of the <br />Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted be and is hereby <br />amended by adding a new Sub-Section "E" which shall read as <br />follows: <br />"1357.11 EMERGENCY POWER AND LIGHTING <br />National Electrical Code Article 700, shall have added to it <br />Section 23, Paragraphs A, B, C, D`, and E, which shall read as <br />follows: <br />Article 700, Section 23 EMERGENCY POWER AND LIGHTING. <br />A. All multi-dwelling units with underground garages. There <br />lighting and power, for ventilation shall be wired to emergency <br />supply source to which the load will be transferred automatically <br />and immediately upon the failure of the normal supply. <br />B. All elevator lights shall be wired to emergency lighting. <br />C. All stairway lighting and the lights specified as necessary to <br />provide sufficient illumination, and all required exit lights <br />shall be wired to emergency lighting branch circuits. <br />D. All fire alarm systems and annunciators shall be wired to <br />emergency branch circuits. The fire alarms system connected <br />to the annunciators shall designate where alarm was set off, <br />east, west, north or south, and on what floor. This directive <br />is required by the City Fire Department. <br />E. All office buildings with two or more stories in height or <br />office buildings having a population of One Hundred (100) <br />persons or more shall be required to keep and maintain emergency <br />lighting in hallways, stairways, and corridors. The lighting <br />systems shall be wired to an emergency power supply source to <br />which the power load will be transferred automatically and <br />immediately upon the failure of the normal power supply. The <br />lighting requirement as specified herein shall provide for <br />sufficient illumination which shall be to the satisfaction of <br />the Building Commissioner of the City." <br />SECTION 2: That Section 1357.11 as previously adopted, and <br />any other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith <br />are hereby repealed. <br />... ~ m~~ . ~,.Y ._ <br />~..r..w.~~ :, <br />~~w.. , z r~-,h <br />x .. <br />
