~~--'L- <br />r <br />MIIQUTBS OF THE I~LBTING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF 110RTH OLMST~ <br />MAY 18, 1976 <br />Present: President Dasrey Liapert, Councilmen Beaty, Boehmar, Goggin, Saringer, <br />Sharps, West. <br />Also present: Mayor Ralph Christman, Law Director Hichasl Gareau, Finance Director <br />Willies Gerlach, Safety Director Rayscind Carnahan, City ~ginser J. <br />Howard Childs, Clerk of Council Nora Sill. <br />Absent: Co~cilsan Wiiamosky. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Limpert at 8:00 P.M. <br />President Li~ert recognized the girl scouts in audience who have achieved the <br />First Class Award in Girl Scouting; also recognized the scouts in audience who <br />will be honorary officials on A11 Scouts Day. Council recognised same. <br />Mayor Christman explained in detail the North Olmsted - Westlake FZSH Organization <br />and presented proclamation to Vickie Birchenoff, President of FISH, present in <br />audience; <br />2) explained int detail the RSVP Program, recognizing top volunteers and presented <br />proclamation to Mr. Robert Swenson, first volunteer, present in audience. <br />Council recognized same. <br />City Engineer Childs reported: Bid opening was held for recreation center fence <br />on May 14, 1975. Received 7 bids and low bidder was U.S. Steel Supply. Reviewed <br />their bid and it is in all respects responsive to the specifications. Accordingly, <br />have writti~ct letter to the Board of Control requesting that they sward the contract <br />to U.S. Steal Supply in amount of $18,520. for the chain link fence around three <br />sides of the recreation center site. Have also requested that we add to the contract <br />the additional $382. required to put strands of barbed wire along the top~• of the <br />rear portion of the fence. President Limpert commented that consideration might <br />be given to planting pine trees, etc. along the toboggan run that in time would hide <br />the structure a little bit. <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) In the past couple of months both the Building <br />Code of Appeals and the Zoning Board of Appeals have been quite active in the <br />area of approval or review of applications for the movesent of housaa. This past <br />week have received three a~-peals - two of them with respect to the Board of Building <br />Code Appeals and one with respect to the Zoning Board of Appeals, whereby these <br />people who have made applications are appealing to the Court of Cowson Pleas the <br />decision of the two Boards in question; <br />2) under sponsorship of Councilassn Wilaowsky have prepared Ord. No. 76-47 and <br />this past week have had an opportunity to give all Members of Cc>un+cil s memorandum <br />with respect to the significance of that ordinance as it relates to additional <br />standards before the Building Code Appeals. <br />Safety Director Carnahan reported: 1) opened bids for additional cossunications <br />system for Police Department and are in process of evalustioa ease. <br />2) have sent application to Louisville pertaining to seminar on creme abatesent <br />and have not heard anything so far. <br />
