MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JULY 5, 1983 <br />Present: President James Boehmer, Cauncilmen Bierman, McKay, Petrigac, <br />Saringer, Wilamosky, Woerpel. <br />Also present: Mayor Robert Swietyniowski, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle, Safety Director Eugene Petre, Service <br />Director Joseph Corrigan, City Engineer Ronald Zurawski, Clerk <br />of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Absent: Councilman Logan. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Boehmer at 8:00 P.M. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of June 21, 1983, were approved. <br />President Boehmer announced that Ordinance Nos. 83-31, 83-62, 83-72 and 83-73 <br />have been removed from tonight's agenda. Ordinance No. 83-4, the creation of <br />a financial task force, has been added to the agenda on third reading. Also, <br />a Public Hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 12th, at 7:45 P.M., to <br />discuss the 1984 budget. Tao Special Council Meetings have been scheduled for <br />Tuesday, July 12th at 8:00 P.M., and for Thursday, July 14th at 8:00 P.M. <br />City Engineer Zurawski reported: 1) Bids for the Senior Citizens' parking lot <br />lighting project were opened July lst with the apparent low bidder being Precision <br />Electric Company of Bedford, Ohio; the bids came in under budget, which is under <br />$9,500. <br />Finance Director Boyle reported: 1) Received notice from County Auditor that City <br />will receive advance real estate taxes on July llth and 25th and on August 8th and <br />29th. <br />2) Today, received new set of special assessment'books for Engineering Department <br />so anyone purchasing property in North Olmsted can check locally on assessments. <br />3) Will be in Washington August 2nd through 4th at an IBM conference for different <br />uses for computers. <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) Today, filW a motion for sutmary judgment in the <br />D'Aiuto Case dealing with an easement on Summerland Avenue. <br />2) In Court of Appeals, on Tuesday, July 12th, will argue the Pension Fund Case, <br />previously won in the lower courts. <br />Safety Director Petre reported: 1) Building Counnissioner Gundy and Mr. Petre have <br />checked the progress on fence repairs at Jamestown condominiums and feel the project <br />is moving along satisfactorily. <br />2) Recent graduates as paramedics are Fireman/Paramedic Ronald Prebis and Donald Swan. <br />3) Thanked the NOSO parents, officials and teams who made the 7th Aunual NOSO <br />Tournament a success; two of the four divisions were won by North Olmsted teams. <br />4) Police auction last week netted the City $896.40. <br />5) Have not yet received an answer on the grant application applied for through the <br />small business administration. <br />6) Fireworks had to be cancelled on the Fourth of July; will be displayed on the <br />rain date - Saturday, July 9th, at dusk.
