, <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />APRIL 19, 1983 <br />Present: President James Boehmer, Councilmen Bierman, Logan, McKay, <br />Petrigac, Saringer, Wilamosky, Woerpel. <br />Also present: Mayor Robert Swietqniowski, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boqle, Safety Director Eugene Petre, Service <br />Director Joseph Corrigan, City Engineer Ronald Zurawski, <br />Clerk of Council Florence Campbell. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Boehmer at 8:15 P.M. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in reciting the <br />Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Before moving into regular business, President Boehmer expressed Council's con- <br />dolences to Service Director Corrigan on the death of his aother last week. <br />President Boehmer announced that Ordinance No. 83-47, a resolution opposing <br />Senate Bill 133 establishing collective bargaining rights for Ohio's public <br />employees, had been removed from the agenda. <br />Ma.yor Swietyniowski reported: 1) Has been infora?ed by Mr. Gallito, ODOT District <br />Deputy Director, that bids for the'I480 noise barrier project will be received on <br />May lOth. <br />2) City has received a bequest of $2,000 from the estate of the late Louisa A. Scott, <br />to be used specifically for the purchase of paramedic equipment. City is deeply <br />grateful and a letter of appreciation has been forwarded to the executrix of the <br />estate. <br />3) Has received the resignation of Dolly McCurdy from the Cable Television Advisory <br />Commission; the family is moving to Westlake. <br />4) Memc>randum of Understanding with Service Department employees will expire on <br />July 18th; negotiations begin next week. <br />5) Has received notification from Blue Cross that rates will be increased by 42% <br />over last year's contract. City will seek competitive estimates for comparable <br />coverage through other insurance coverage. Will keep Council informed. <br />City Engineer Zurawski reported: 1) Regarding the Dover Center Road Project, has <br />contacted Westlake's Engineering Department; they have acquired all but one of the <br />necessary easements for the improvements; they hope to conclude negotiations for <br />the final easement within two weeks. A recent article in the Chronicle Telegram, <br />stating that Westlake's plans for pover Center Road have not been completed, is <br />erroneous and very mislesding. 'I'he Dover Center Road plans, within the Cities of <br />North Olmsted and Westlake, is ONE complete set; it is ONE single project. Plans <br />have been completed, submitted to the County who submitted them to the Ohio De- <br />partment of Transportation; they are now in Columbus. <br />2) On May 14th, delivered the Sewer System Evaluation Survey iteport to the Ohio <br />Environmental Protection Agency in Colunbus. Discussed available funding and time- <br />table necessary to obtain Federal funds. Also, met with the County Sanitary Engineer <br />to discuss the report prior to submitting to Ohio EPA. <br />3) Regarding Clague Road Project, on April 12th met with Westlake City Engineer, <br />Ray Henry, and Westlake Grants Coordinator, Ron Paul, to discuss the three culverts <br />near the north corporation line. Taill be informed in the near future what lJestlake's <br />position is on these culverts. <br />
