MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JULY 7, 1987 <br />Present: President Janet Saringer, Councilmen Bohlmann, Lackey, McKay, <br />O'Grady, Tallon, Wilamosky. <br />Also present: Mayor Yvonne Petrigac, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance <br />Director Edward Boyle,. Acting Clerk of Council Linda Spencer. <br />Absent: Councilman Rademaker. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Saringer at 8:00 P.M., in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Members of Council in the Pledge <br />of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Minutes of the Council Meeting of June 16, 1987, were approved. <br />President Saringer announced that legislation Nos. 87-66, 87-67, 87-68, 87-69 <br />and 87-74 would be passed under suspension of rule requiring three readings. <br />Mayor Petrigac reported: 1) Read a letter from City Engineer Joseph Schaller <br />submitting his formal resignation, effective July 31, 1987. <br />2) Transportation Team Meeting was held on June 20th; felt more information was <br />needed with respect to the tax plan before they could determine their involvement. <br />3) President Saringer will be scheduling a meeting to discuss the Columbia Road <br />relocation and the Bassett/Stearns Project; Westlake has already met on this issue <br />and will be presenting a proposal to ODOT; would urge an early meeting date. <br />4) Met with representatives from the auditing firm of Arthur Young, who does the <br />financial audit, under contract, for North Olmsted. Mayor requested an internal <br />audit; Arthur Young could do it but it would require a different type contract; <br />Mayor feels an internal audit is needed. <br />5) Had the privilege recently of swearing in William J. Schenkelberg as a member <br />of the North Olmsted Police Department; Officer Schenkelberg was previously a <br />member of the North Olmsted Fire Department. <br />6) Expressed congratulations to everyone responsible for making Independence Weekend <br />so successful; praised Councilman Lackey for his role in the "1776 " production. <br />7) Recent NOSO International Soccer Tournament was well attended and successful. <br />8) Ceremony honoring Martin Supple was held at Bretton Ridge Park on July 4th; <br />Independence Day celebration ended with a fireworks display on July 5th. <br />9) Copy of the Performance Audit and Program for Improvement in Service Report is <br />on file in the Mayor's office and available for study. <br />10) Law Director, Service Director, Bus Manager and Assistant Manager and Mayor <br />attended an all-day meeting with Maple Heights, RTA representatives and represent- <br />ative from ODOT. Have come to a consensus on methodology and will await the out- <br />come of this; next meeting will be held the middle of September. <br />11) Last year, the City had twelve full-time summer help and ten from the county; <br />this year, there are two full-time summer help and three part-time people from the <br />county. There are not twenty-four full-time summer help people; this is a mis- <br />conception by some members of council. <br />12) Has requested Representative Petro to furnish estimated income figures from the <br />gas tax effective July 1st.
