MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCII, <br />~~, OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />SEPTEMBER 21, 1999 <br />Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert, <br />Miller, McKay, Nashar, O'Grady <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />President Saringer announced that Ordinances 99-107, 99-124, 99-131 and 99-133 would <br />be passed under suspension of the rules. <br />The minutes of the special Council meeting of August 12, 1999 were approved as written. <br />The minutes of the special Council meeting of August 13, 1999 were approved as written. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of August 17, 1999 were approved as written. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Musial: 1) The Town Hall meeting for Ward III will be held at Spruce School, <br />Thursday, September 23, at 7:30 p.m. <br />2) At the invitation of Congressman Kucinich, he and other mayors from the western <br />suburbs had a luncheon meeting with a delegation of Russian mayors that are visiting the <br />United States as part of a program which is run through the Library of Congress. There <br />are approximately 2,000 Russian leaders touring the United States during August and <br />September. On Saturday, he and Mrs. Musial, Council President Janet Saringer and <br />Kathy and Duane Limpert were invited to join the visitors at a cookout. It was an <br />excellent opportunity for international exchange. From the standpoint of being the mayor <br />of North Olmsted, it makes you really appreciate what a tremendous country we have and <br />how easy it is to run this city as compared to the Russians running the cities that they <br />have. <br />3) This past Sunday, the City of North Olmsted had a team in the heart walk. Thank you <br />to Finance Department employees Shirley McGowan and Lori Borowski and Police <br />Department employee Rosalie Kastelic for joining the mayor and Safety Director Tom <br />Jenkins in this first annual walk. <br />4) Police Chief Ruple has announced that the department will receive funds from the <br />Office of the Governor's Highway Safety Representative Grants. Two grants were <br />applied for: One is for restraint usage, whereby the goal is to increase the total number of <br />__ <br />i ~ <br />
