~~ MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL
<~;, OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
MARCH 2, 1999
Present: Council President Saringer, Council Members Gareau, Kasler, Limpert,
McKay, Miller, Nashar, O'Grady
Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of
Council Seman
Council President Saringer called the meeting to order at 8:06 p.m. in Council Chambers,
5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio.
Mr. O'Grady moved to amend the agenda to add Ordinance 99-35 to the agenda for first
reading. The motion was seconded by Mr. Limpert and unanimously approved.
The minutes of the Council meeting of February 2, 1999 were approved as corrected by
changing the number of the ordinance in the BZD Committee report to 98-130. The
minutes of the special Council meeting of February 8, 1999 were approved as written.
The minutes of the special Council meeting of February 9, 1999 were approved as
written.
REPORTS
Mayor Musial: 1) Recently hosted a meeting for the members of the boards and
commissions so as to improve the communications and inter-relationship coordination
between them. They were able to socialize, place a voice with a face, articulate on their
roles and responsibilities in serving North Olmsted and discuss in general their
philosophy, opinions and views as to how they can best serve North Olmsted. The
response from the attendees was very positive. It is contemplated that their collected
observations and recommendations will be an invaluable resource for the North Olmsted
Vision Y2000 and Beyond Steering Committee.
2) The second Mayor's Ball was an unqualified success. We were able to make a
contribution of $4,000 to the North Olmsted Schools Foundation Inc. and $4,000 to the
North Olmsted Foundation Inc. The committee did a fantastic job. They decorated the
ballroom in a festive mood, and we had an eagle ice sculpture as a focal point. The food
at Springvale was beyond excellence, and the performance of the Four Lads added to the
evening. Thank you to the members of Council who participated and helped with the
Mayor's Ball.
Law Director Gareau: 1) Because of scheduling problems, the plaintiffs in the Parcel E
litigation have asked for an extension of the trial date of March 15 and an extension of
the discovery date cut-off.
~~
