MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JANUARY 4, 2~5 <br />Present: President of Council O'Grady, Council Members Dailey, Kasler, <br />Limpert, McKay, Miller, Nashar <br />Also Present: Mayor Musial, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Absent: Council Member Gareau <br />President O'Grady called the meeting to order at 8:08 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />Councilman Miller moved to amend the agenda to remove Ordinance No. 2004-19$ and <br />Resolution No. 2004-202 from the agenda. The motion was seconded by Councilman <br />Nashar and passed unanimously. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of December 21, 2004 were approved as written. <br />President O'Grady announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: second reading, Ordinances 2004-197, 2004-199 and <br />Resolutions 2004-203 and 2004-204; first reading, Ordinances 2005-2 and 2005-3. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Musial asked Safety Director Jesse and Service Director Driscoll to come forward <br />to comment on the recent major snow storm and the plans for similar future events. <br />Safety Director Jesse commented that the recent heavy snowfall of wet snow, rain and ice <br />was one of the most challenging winter events in the history of North Olmsted. City <br />services were extended to their farthest possible extent. The main and secondary roads <br />were kept in very good driving condition, but the wet snow made many residential streets <br />impassable before Service Department crews could plow the snow and apply salt. As a <br />result, the Police and Fire Departments were under great pressure to provide adequate <br />response and service to residents in need. He and Sgt. Huspaska patrolled the city in a <br />four-wheel drive vehicle as many of the residential streets were impassable to the normal <br />cruisers. Police shifts were called in early to provide response to motor vehicle accidents. <br />Interstate 480 was in very poor driving condition various times of the day and night. <br />Throughout the city, the police provided reassurance to the residents and extraordinary <br />
