CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0. 80-125 <br />BY: JANET SARINGER <br />A RESOLUTION URGING THE OHIO GENERAL ASSEMBLY <br />TO ADOPT LEGISLATION WHEREBY THE LIQUOR CONTROL <br />COMMISSION WOULD BE REQUIRED TO ESTABLISH A <br />CIRCUIT WHICH WOULD REQUIRE THEM TO CONVENE <br />PERIODICALLY TN CUYAHOGA COUNTY FOR THE PURPOSE <br />OF HANDLING CASES EMANATING FROM CUYAHOGA COUNTY. <br />WHEREAS, all appeals of the decisions of the Department of <br />Liquor Control of the State of Ohio, including those arising out <br />of Cuyahoga County, are held by the Liquor Control Commission in <br />Columbus, Ohio, and <br />WHEREAS, said appeals require the presentation of evidence <br />and the attendance of witnesses including permit holders, as well <br />as public officials in cases involving license applications, all <br />of which necessitate the expenditure of substantial time, and <br />WHEREAS, the case load of the Liquor Control Commission is <br />such. that moxe often than not, the Commission is unable to maintain <br />its daily schedule and hearings are unavoidably delayed, all to the <br />inconvenience of those persons required to appear at said hearings, <br />an d <br />WHEREAS, this Council is of the opinion that in those cases <br />originating out of Cuyahoga County, justice would be better served <br />and hearings could be handled in a more expeditious and efficient <br />manner if same were held in Cleveland, Ohio, and legislation should <br />be enacted to that effect. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Council of the City of North. Olmsted for <br />and on e al~o~' th_e citizens of the City of North. Olmsted and of <br />Cuyahoga County, strongly urges the Ohio General Assembly to enact <br />legislation to require th.e Liquor Control Commission to convene <br />periodically in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Qhio. <br />SECTION 2: That th_e Clerk. of Council be and she is hereby <br />auth_orizec~ andilirected to forward certified copies of this Resolution <br />to Oliver Ocasek, President of the Ohio Senate, Vernal G.
