<br />A RESOLUTION TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF CLERK OF
<br />COUNCIL BARBARA L. SEMAN
<br />WHEREAS, Barbara L. Seman was born Barbara Mezzulo to proud Italian-American parents Pat and Crescenta Mezzulo and
<br />was raised in the St. Rocco Italian-American neighborhood on Cleveland's Westside, until the family moved to Parma Heights when
<br />Barb was 10 years old; and
<br />WHEREAS, Barbara L. Seman thereafter attended schools in the Parma School District, graduating from Valley Forge High
<br />School (her class being the first to graduate from the then new high school), and then attending and successfully graduating from Ohio
<br />University with a teaching degree; and
<br />WHEREAS, Barbara L. Seman in 1971 married Fred Seman; and they have now been happily married for 37 years and have
<br />one child, their son Craig; and
<br />WHEREAS, Barbara L. Seman was for years a teacher in the Garfield Heights School District where she developed her
<br />wonderful interpersonal talents, honed her first class typing, research and other administrative skills, and learned the patience that is
<br />necessary to educate young children-all of which prepared her well for her future employment with the North Olmsted City Council;
<br />and
<br />WHEREAS, in 1990, upon the retirement of former Clerk of Council Florence Campbell, North Olmsted City Council
<br />selected Barbara L. Seman to become its new Clerk of Council; and
<br />WHEREAS, over the course of the next 19 years as Clerk of Council, Barbara L. Seman attended approximately 500 regular
<br />and special Council meetings-rarely missing a meeting; typed, researched, reviewed and read over 3,000 ordinances and resolutions;
<br />and provided the members of City Council and the Administration with countless pieces of candy from her candy dish which never
<br />seemed to run dry; and
<br />WHEREAS, Barbara L. Seman is known far and wide for her unwavering loyalty to the members of North Olmsted City
<br />Council, past and present; her valued friendships with those with whom she has worked at North Olmsted City Hall over the years;
<br />and her willingness to always be a confidant to her colleagues especially when they were in times of need; and
<br />WHEREAS, Barbara L. Seman in her nearly two decades of public service faithfully and tirelessly served the needs and
<br />interests of the following Presidents and members of North Olmsted City Council: Patricia Bahas, Paul Barker, James Boehmer, Louis
<br />Brossard, Nicole Dailey Jones, John Dailey, Michael Gareau, Jr., Carolyn Kasler, Kevin Kearney, Kevin Kennedy, James Leonard,
<br />Duane Limpert, David Lind, Mark Mahoney, Farrell Dean McKay, Paul Miller, Norman Musial, George Nashar, Thomas P. O'Grady,
<br />Thomas E. O'Grady, Lawrence Orlowski, Daniel Ryan, Janet Saringer, Ronald Talton, Sr., and Ronald Wiliamosky; and
<br />WHEREAS, Barbara L. Seman is a proud parishioner at St. Richard Catholic Church in North Olmsted; her faith is deep and
<br />much admired by those who know her; and that faith has imbued her with the humility and devotion which has made her not only an
<br />excellent public servant, but also an excellent wife, mother, friend and citizen of this community; and
<br />WHEREAS, Barbara L. Seman recently realized the two goals of every Italian-American mom---making a pilgrimage to
<br />Italy, Rome and the Vatican, and seeing that her son found and married a good woman; and
<br />WHEREAS, Barbara L. Seman has used her God-given abilities and talents to help not only the President and Members of
<br />North Olmsted City Council, but also the residents of the entire City of North Olmsted, all of whom have prospered while she served
<br />as Clerk of Council.
<br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, C'OL'NTY OF
<br />CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO:
<br />SECTION 1: That the Council of the City of North Olmsted, on behalf of the Mayor, members of the Administration and all
<br />the residents of the City of North Olmsted hereby honors Barbara L. Seman.
<br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution be spread in full upon the record of this Council and that the Clerk of Council is hereby
<br />directed to forward a duly authenticated and executed copy of this Resolution to Barbara L. Seman.
<br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall be in effect from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
