<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0. 166 <br />BY: Mayor Ed Boyle <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED'S <br />PARTICIPATION IN THE WESTSHORE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS' <br />APPLICATION FOR A MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL REGIONAL MINIMUM <br />SECURITY JAIL. <br />WHEREAS, The impact of City jail overcrowding has <br />penalized and has negatively impacted the health, welfare <br />and safety of North Olmsted citizens and negatively impacted <br />the finances of the City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, A multi-jurisdictional regional minimum <br />security misdemeanant jail will positively impact and reduce <br />jail overcrowding and improve overall safety and <br />effectiveness; and <br />WHEREAS, By approving this Resolution, the City of <br />North Olmsted will join with the Westshore Council of <br />Governments in its application to the Ohio Governor's office <br />for up to 60 percent funding assistance to <br />renovate/construct a multi-jurisdictional regional minimum <br />security/misdemeanant jail. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1: That the Mayor be and is hereby authorized <br />to join with the Westshore Council of Governments in an <br />application to the Ohio Governor's office of Criminal <br />Justice Service for up to 60 percent funding assistance to <br />renovate/construct a multi-jurisdictional regional minimum <br />security misdemeanant jail pursuant to Ohio Amended <br />Substitute Senate Bill Number 131 and have joint <br />responsibility for the cost and operation of this facility. <br />Section 2: It is found and determined that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the <br />passage of this Resolution were adopted in an open meeting. <br />Section 3: That this Resolution shall take effect and <br />be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by <br />law.
