,? .. <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0. 92-87 <br />BY: COUNCILWOMAN-AT-LARGE JANET SARINGER <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS OF CUYAHOGA COUNTY <br />AUDITOR TIM MCCORMACK AND THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY AUDITOR'S <br />SENIOR ADVISORY BOARD IN RECOGNIZING THE NEED TO REVISE <br />THE OHIO ENERGY CREDITS PROGRAM THROUGH THE PASSAGE OF <br />HOUSE BILL 552 AS INTRODUCED BY STATE REPRESENTATIVE <br />C.J. PRENTISS. <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio Energy Credit income limit has never <br />been changed since the program began officially in 1979; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, twelve (12) years of inflation, escalating <br />medical costs and Social Security cost of living increases <br />have outdated current Ohio Energy Credit guidelines so that <br />an average of 24,000 citizens were dropped per year; and <br />WHEREAS, an increase in the Ohio Energy Credit income <br />ceiling would allow an additional 146,700 seniors with <br />incomes between $9,000 and $16,500 to receive energy relief; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio Energy Credits Program requires <br />efficient and continued maintenance in order to provide <br />sufficient energy relief for Ohio's senior and disabled <br />persons. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the City of North Olmsted does hereby <br />officially support Ohio Energy Credit Reform, House Bill 552 <br />and urges Governor George Voinovich, Ohio House Speaker Vern <br />Riffe, Ohio Senate President Stanley Aronoff and the General <br />Assembly to pass House Bill 552 in order to provide <br />sufficient relief for Ohio's senior and disabled citizens. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby <br />authorized and directed to cause a fully executed copy <br />hereof to be sent to Governor George Voinovich, Speaker of <br />the House Vern Riffe, President of the Ohio Senate Stanley <br />Aronoff, State Senators John Glenn and Howard Metzenbaum, <br />Congressman Edward Feighan and State Representative Edward <br />Kasputis.
