_._ -?..,.....a .?......,.,e, -.?_.?..?,,,,..?.,,,..,+, «...? . ...v. .?.w...m.?.».,.._........ <br />? ? ._.. . .__. _.. ._ . .... -a..,..,. _..??.?-? _... <br />? <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 96-174 t /? 8 ?J= 0 ja (-? <br />BY: COUNCILMAN MCKAY, THE ENTIRE COUNCIL AND MAyOR BOYLE <br />A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO OHIO SENATE BILL <br />118 WHICH PROHIBITS LOCAL GOVERNMENTS FROM ADOPTING <br />BUILDING REGULATIONS CONTRARY TO THOSE ADOPTED BY <br />THE OHIO BOARD OF BUILDING STANDARDS, AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted has exercised its powers of local self- <br />government by adopting residential and non-residential building standards which may be <br />more restrictive than those provided for by the Ohio Board of Building Standards; and <br />WHEREAS, Ohio Senate Bill 118 proposes to require local governments to <br />strictly follow all building standards established by the Ohio Board of Building Standards; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Ohio Senate Bill 118 would prohibit the City of North Olmsted from <br />exercising its powers of local self-government; and <br />WHEREAS, The adoption of Ohio Senate Bill 118 would result in "minimum <br />standards" for residential and non-residential construction; and <br />WIHEREAS, Council has determined that such "minimum standards" would <br />adversely affect the quality of construction in the City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, Council therefore desires to express opposition to Ohio Senate <br />Bill 118. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Council of the City of North Olmsted hereby expresses its <br />opposition to Ohio Senate Bill 118 and strongly urges the defeat of same. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a copy of this Resolution to State Senator Gary Suhadolnik and all Cuyahoga <br />County municipalities.
