CITY OF 2i0RTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO • ,~,(~ ~' <br />By Mr. , <br />AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE REGIONAL DWr~,LING HOUSE CODE, PREPARED <br />BY THE REGIONAL PLANNING CON4LLSSI4N OF CLI'~~ELAND, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, <br />OHIO, TO PROVIDE NtINIMtTM STANDARDS IN CONSTRUCTION TO SAFE GUARD <br />LIFE, LIl~, HEALTH, PROP~tTY AND THE PUBLIC WELFARE, AND REPEALING <br />THE PROVISIONS OF' ANY AND ALL ORDINANCES WHICH ARE INCONSISTEN3' <br />OR IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />i~EAS, the Council of the City of North Olmsted has given consideration <br />to the existing Building Code of said city and its amendments thereto and has deter- <br />mined that the existing Building Code and its amendments are outdated in relation to <br />the present day method of construction and the use of present day materials in con- <br />struction of dwelling houses, and <br />~JHEREAS, it is the opinion of this Council that it is desirable to have, <br />as nearly as possible, uniformity in construction of dwelling houses in the greater <br />Cleveland area, and it is desirable and in the best interest of the general welfare <br />of this community that the Regional Dwelling House Code, prepared by the Regional <br />Planning Commission of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, for use in the greater Cleveland <br />suburban area, is the code best suited for use in this city, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of North Olmsted, <br />County of Cuyahoga, State of Ohio: <br />Section 1: That the Regional Dwelling House Code, prepared by the Regional <br />Planning Commission of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, for use in the greater Clere- <br />land suburban area, be and is hereby adopted as part of the Building Code, known as <br />the Dwelling House Code for the City of North Olmsted, Ohio. (A copy of said Regional <br />Dwelling House Code is hereto attached and made a part hereof.) <br />Section 2: That the Building Commissioner (Building Administrator) is <br />hereby authorized and directed to obtain from the office of the Regional Planning <br />Commission nine (9) additional copies of the Regional Dwelling House Code at Five <br />Dollars ($5.00) per copy, which copies are to be on file in the office of the Building <br />Commissioner (Building Administrator) of the City of North Olmsted and may be examined <br />and inspected by the public at any time, and said Building Commissioner Building <br />Administrator) shall retain for public inspection any and all amendments thereto as <br />may be made from time to time. <br />Section 3: That the provisions of this Regional Dwelling House Code shall <br />supplement any and all Ordinances and Resolutions o:F this municipality or any and all <br />rules and regulations promulgated by authority of such Ordinances and Resolutions <br />applicable to buildings and other structures, and the provisions of any Ordinances <br />or Resolutions inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of Section 1 of this <br />Ordinance are hereby repealed. <br />Section 4: Wherefore, this Ordinance is :h.ereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety <br />and general welfare of the City of North Olmsted, and such emergency exists by reason <br />of the need of a modern up to date Dwelling House Building Code in beeping with the <br />present day standard of construction and use of present day building materials and <br />to better effect uniformity in dwelling house construction within this city Gnd in <br />the area generally, all of which is necessary for the immediate preservation of the <br />public peace, health, safety and general welfare of this community. <br />
