CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2014 - 5 <br /> By: Mayor Kennedy <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ADVERTISE FOR <br /> BIDS FOR THE AWARD OF A CONTRACT TO PROVIDE <br /> CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATION SERVICES AT THE NORTH <br /> OLMSTED RECREATION CENTER TO INCLUDE FRONT L OBB Y <br /> REDESIGN, NEW FITNESS AREA AND POOL LOCKER ROOMS, AND <br /> AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, FOLLOWING APPROVAL OF THE BOARD <br /> OF CONTROL TO CONTRACT FOR THE SAME WITH THE LOWEST <br /> AND BEST BIDDER,AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to funding and design services previously authorized by Council, <br /> construction specifications have been prepared to support competitive bidding of the renovation <br /> work proposed at the North Olmsted Recreation Center; and <br /> WHEREAS, the necessary specifications to competitively bid the Recreation Center <br /> Renovation Project this year have been prepared by the Architect and are on file in the <br /> Recreation Department; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to advertise for bids <br /> for the award of a contract to provide construction and renovation services at the Recreation <br /> Center, as set forth in the said specifications, and to further authorize the Mayor, following <br /> approval by the Board of Control, to enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA,AND STATE OF OHIO: <br /> SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for the <br /> award of a contract to provide construction and renovation services at the Recreation Center, as <br /> detailed in the specifications now on file in the Recreation Department, and that further, the <br /> Mayor, following approval by the Board of Control is hereby authorized to execute a contract on <br /> behalf of the City with the lowest and best bidder. <br /> SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br /> immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further <br /> for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately due to earlier <br /> bidding in the construction season should create more competition; <br /> and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it <br /> shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
