CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2014 - 12 <br /> By: Mayor Kennedy <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE/ <br /> MAYOR TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE A WARD OF A CONTRACT <br /> TO PROVIDE NEW PAVEMENT MARKINGS TO VARIOUS STREETS AT <br /> VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN THE CITY, AS DETAILED IN THE <br /> SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, AND <br /> AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, FOLLOWING APPROVAL OF THE BOARD <br /> OF CONTROL TO CONTRACT FOR THE SAME WITH THE LOWEST <br /> AND BEST BIDDER,AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> WHEREAS, various streets at various locations throughout the City require new <br /> pavement markings this year; and <br /> WHEREAS, the necessary specifications to competitively bid a street pavement markings <br /> contract this year have been prepared by the Service Department and are on file in said <br /> Department; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Public Service / <br /> Mayor to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to provide new pavement markings to <br /> various streets at various locations in the City, as set forth in the said specifications, and to <br /> further authorize the Mayor, following approval by the Board of Control, if necessary, to enter <br /> into a contract with the lowest and best bidder. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA,AND STATE OF OHIO: <br /> SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Service /Mayor be and he is hereby authorized <br /> to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to provide new pavement markings to various <br /> streets at various locations in the City, as detailed in the specifications now on file in the Service <br /> Department, and that further, the Mayor, following approval by the Board of Control, if <br /> necessary, is hereby authorized to execute a contract on behalf of the City with the lowest and <br /> best bidder. <br /> SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br /> immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further <br /> for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately due to earlier <br /> bidding in the construction season should create more competition; <br /> and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it <br /> shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
