I CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE NO. 2015—58 BY: Mayor Kennedy AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 165.04 ("DUTIES") OF CHAPTER 165 ("LANDMARKS COMMISSION") OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE CODE IN ORDER TO PROVIDE AUTHORITY TO THE CITY LANDMARKS COMMISSION TO ESTABLISH PROGRAMS FOR THE RECOGNITION AND PROMOTION OF HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT COMMUNITY RESOURCES. WHEREAS, Section 165.04 of the Administrative Code sets forth the duties for the City Landmarks Commission; and WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Administration that the Commission be further empowered to recognize and promote, in a manner less formal than those processes currently set forth in Chapter 165, sites, buildings, structures, works of art or similar objects in the City that are culturally, socially, economically, politically, architecturally, educationally or historically significant; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council, acting upon the recommendation of the Administration, to amend said Section 165.04 accordingly. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY,AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That Section 165.04 ("Duties") of Chapter 165 ("Landmarks Commission") of the Administrative Code, which presently reads as follows: 165.04 DUTIES. In addition to other duties specified elsewhere in this chapter, the Landmarks Commission shall have the following responsibilities and duties: (a) The Commission shall conduct a continuing survey of all sites, buildings, structures, works of art or similar objects in the City that are culturally, socially, economically, politically, architecturally, educationally or historically significant. (b) The Commission shall work for the continuing education of the citizens of the City with respect to historical and architectural heritage of the City and the landmarks designated under the provisions of this chapter. It shall publish and keep current a register of all landmarks. (c) The Commission shall be authorized by Council to accept the services on a permanent or part-time basis, of technical experts or such other persons that may be required from time to time.
