CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2015—63 <br /> BY: Mayor Kennedy & Council President Jones <br /> AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A NEW CHAPTER 1364 OF THE CODIFIED <br /> ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ENTITLED <br /> "INTERIOR MAINTENANCE CODE,"AS AMENDED. <br /> WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted, in recent years, has experienced a decrease in <br /> owner occupied single family residential structures, with owners preferring to instead rent their <br /> property to third parties; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted has a number of multi-family residential <br /> structures; and <br /> WHEREAS, Building Department officials, despite viewing first hand various living <br /> conditions within residential structures that pose a threat of harm to residents, are currently <br /> without meaningful enforcement authority to compel change; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted recognizes that a well maintained housing stock, <br /> both interior and exterior, is essential to the long term property values in the City of North <br /> Olmsted; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Administration that the City adopt a new <br /> "Interior Maintenance Code" to ensure the long term viability of the housing stock in the City of <br /> North Olmsted. <br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council, upon the recommendation of the <br /> Administration, to enact a new Chapter 1364 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of North <br /> Olmsted, entitled"Interior Maintenance Code." <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY,AND STATE OF OHIO: <br /> SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby adopt Chapter 1364, entitled, "Interior <br /> Maintenance Code" which reads in its entirety as set forth in Exhibit A and which is attached to <br /> this Ordinance and incorporated by reference as if fully rewritten herein. <br /> SECTION 2: That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the <br /> earliest date provided for by law. <br /> PASSED: a, ' ' / ^ / First Reading: efq <br />
