CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2015—52 <br /> BY: Mayor Kennedy <br /> A RESOLUTION APPROVING OF AND AUTHORIZING THE <br /> MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING <br /> AGREEMENT WITH THE AMERICAN FEDERATION OF <br /> STATE, COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES ("AFSCME'), <br /> OHIO COUNCIL 8, LOCAL 2681, FOR THE SERVICE UNIT <br /> EMPLOYEES, FOR THE PERIOD JULY 1, 2015, THROUGH <br /> JUNE 30, 2018,AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> WHEREAS, Ohio law provides for the recognition of public sector labor unions and <br /> for municipal corporations to negotiate collective bargaining agreements with such unions that <br /> have been recognized as the bargaining agents for their public employees; and <br /> WHEREAS, the, American Federation of State, county and Municipal Employees, <br /> AFL-CIO, Ohio Council 8 (hereinafter "AFSCME") has been recognized as the exclusive <br /> bargaining agent for the City's service unit employees; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Administration conducted negotiations with AFSCME representing <br /> the interests of the members of said bargaining units in 2015; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Administration and AFSCME successfully negotiated agreements on <br /> all of the issues that were presented during the collective bargaining negotiations between the <br /> Administration and AFSCME, and the agreements that were negotiated are satisfactory to <br /> both the Administration and the bargaining unit members; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to approve of and authorize the Mayor to <br /> enter into a collective bargaining agreement with AFSCME on behalf of, respectively, the <br /> City's service unit employees, for the period July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2018; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA,AND STATE OF OHIO: <br /> SECTION 1: That the collective bargaining agreement negotiated by and between the <br /> Administration and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees <br /> ("AFSCME"), Ohio Council 8, Local 2681, for the Service Unit Employees, for the period <br /> July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2018, copies of which are on file in the office of the Director of <br /> Human Resources, are hereby approved and the Mayor is authorized to execute said <br /> agreement. <br />
