• ?" ? <br /> f <br /> tt " <br /> <br /> ?r+ <br /> ?. <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 82-10 <br />BY: DEAN McKAY <br />_ A, <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NEW AND REVISED <br />STANDARD WITH RESPECT TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF <br />A PARAMEDIC UNIT WITHIN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, <br />AND TO AT THE SAME TIME, ESTABLISH A RATE OF <br />COMPENSATION IN EXCESS OF THE BASE RATE OF PAY <br />FOR PARAMEDICS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, this Council previously adopted Ordinance No. <br />80-91, which in part, in Section 2, Paragraph C, established <br />a Paramedic complement, together with Paramedic pay which was <br />in excess of the base pay, and <br />WHEREAS, this Council has determined that the language <br />of said subsection is unclear and it is the desire of this Council <br />to clarify said subsection. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY 0F NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That there is hereby established a provision <br />£or the compldment in the Fire Department for certified Paramedics, <br />which shall read as follows: <br />That the organization of the Fire Department shal.l <br />consist of not less than twenty (20) nor more than <br />twenty-eight (28) sworn full time employees who are <br />certified paramedics; and that retroactive to <br />January l, 1982, and thereafter, any sworn full time <br />employee performing the duties and functions of a <br />certified paramedic shall be paid an add.itional com- <br />pensation at a rate of Four Hundred Dollars ($400.00) <br />anr}ually. Such compensation shall be paid by the <br />Director of Finance at the second pay period in <br />December of each year. Any person obtaining certifica- <br />tion as a paramedic after January lst of any year, <br />shall be paid on a prorata basis. Any person failing <br />to be certified at the time of the closing of the <br />second pay period in December of any given year, shall <br />not be Qualified for said additional compensation. <br />The provisions cf th.is ordinance with respect to the <br />nay of Four Hundred Dollars ($400.00) additional com- <br />pensation shall not be applicable to the Fire Chief, <br />Assistant Fire Chief, and the Fi.re Prevention Officer/ <br />Inspector. <br />SECTION 2: That Subsection C of Section 2 of Ordinance <br />No. 80-91, as previously adopted, is hereby repealed with the <br />effective date of this Ordinance, together with any other ordinances, <br />or parts of ordinances which are inconsistent herewith.
