PETRIGAC <br />A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THF RENEWAL OF A <br />ONE MILL LEVY AND AN ADDITIONAL SIX-TENTHS <br />FOR CONTINUING EDUCATIONAL SERVICES AT <br />CUYAHOGA COMTIUNITY COLLF.GE, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />?NHERE.AS, Cuyahoga Community College became a dream of <br />high quality, aff_ordable education realized for the citizens of <br />Cuyahoga County in 1963, and <br />WHEREAS, Cuyahoga Community College has not asked for <br />an increase in millage since 1968, and <br />WHEREAS, since its inception over 300,000 in the county <br />have attended Cuyahoga County College, and <br />WHEREAS, Cuyahoga Community College has grown into the <br />third largest educational institution in Ohio with three campuses <br />and over fifty of_f-camnus sites, serving 45,000 studetns who <br />particinate in credit and retraining courses each year, and <br />WHEREAS, over eighty percent of graduates remain and work <br />in Cuyahoga County contributing to the economic health of the <br />region, and <br />WHEREAS, the college is losing an estimated Six Million <br />Dollars throu,gh reduced state subsidy, endangering vital training <br />and educational programs, and <br />WHEREAS, the continuing need for the colleQe is self evident. <br />NOW, THFREFORE BF IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLA.ISTFD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That our Council go on record in sunport of <br />the renewal o t e one mill levy and an additional six-tenths for <br />Cuyahoga Community College. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to <br />be an emergency measure immediately necessar,y for the preservation of <br />the public health, sa_fety and welfare and further provided it re- <br />ceives the affirmative vote of two-thirds o£ all members elected to <br />Council, it sha11 take effect and be in f_orce immediately upon its <br />passage and anproval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: <br />ATTEST: <br />9 ? <br />NCE E.
