CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2019 - 23 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION RATIFYING THE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN <br />UPDATE FOR 2019-2033, AS PREPARED AND ADOPTED BY THE CUYAHOGA <br />COUNTY SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD. <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Ohio Revised Code ("O.R.C.") §3734.53 to 3734.55, the <br />Cuyahoga County Solid Waste Management District ("District") has prepared and proposes <br />adoption of a final draft of its Solid Waste Management Plan Update for 2019 to 2033 ("Plan <br />Update"); and <br />WHEREAS, the District prepared the initial plan in 1994 and has performed a Plan <br />Update every 5 years in compliance with Ohio law. The District's Plan Update is designed to <br />meet the State requirement that all 52 Districts maintain long range plans to increase recycling <br />and reduce reliance on landfills, as explained by the District's ratification fact sheet on file; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted is located within the jurisdiction of the District <br />and the District has forwarded a copy of the Plan Update for administrative review and <br />legislative ratification, a copy of which is on file with the Clerk of Council; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with O.R.C. §3734.53 to 3734.55, the City must decide by <br />April 11, 2019, whether to ratify the Plan Update; and <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Public Safety/Service has reviewed the Plan Update and <br />recommends that the City approve in accordance with statutory obligations; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council, in order to provide for the public health, <br />safety and general welfare of the residents of the City of North Olmsted, to approve the Plan <br />Update and to notify the District in accordance with law. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the City of North Olmsted, Ohio, does hereby approve of, adopt and <br />ratify the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste Management Plan Update (2019 - 2033). <br />SECTION 2 : That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the <br />earliest period allowed by law. <br />PASSED: N X14 <br />A TLES . <br />First Reading: 2--S-/9 <br />Second Reading: (`1 <br />Third Reading: <br />Committee: F nv. rorlMFn l (� f�� <br />
