CITY OF NORTIi OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2019 - 68 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTIIORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PLANNING <br />AND DEVELOPMENT TO SOLICIT STA TEMENT.S OF <br />QUALIFICATIONS FRO11 QUALIFIED DESIGN PROFESSIONALS <br />TO PROVIDE ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING SERVICES <br />FOR THE RECREATION CENTER ICE RINK ROOF AND HVAC <br />PROJECT, AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR. <br />FOLLOWING APPROVAL BY THE BOARD OF CONTROL, TO <br />ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE FIRM SELECTED IN THE <br />"R.I .Q."PROCI S.S, AND DECLARING. 1N F_MERGEA"CY. <br />WHEREAS, the Recreation Center ice rink roof is afflicted with constant leaks, <br />resulting in an interruption of services and a negative impact on patron experiences at the <br />City Recreation Center Complex: and <br />WHEREAS, like the roof, the HVAC system is in need of replacement due to <br />ongoing breakdowns and costly repairs and / or service, and <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Planning and Development has requested that this <br />Council authorize her to use Chapter 112 of the North Olmsted Codified Ordinances, to <br />implement an R.F.Q. process to select design professionals to design suitable replacement <br />options for the roof and HVAC projects, followed by a public bid, and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the recommendation of the Director of Planning <br />and Development, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director to use the <br />R.F.Q. process to select appropriate design professionals to prepare the projects for public <br />bid and, further, to authorize the Mayor to enter into contracts with the design <br />professionals selected in the R.F.Q. process. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLM.STED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Planning and Development be and she is <br />authorized to implement the R.F.Q. process to select design professionals to design <br />suitable replacement options for the Recreation Center roof and HVAC projects. <br />SECTION 2: The Mayor, following approval by the Board of Control, is <br />authorized to enter into contracts with the design professionals selected in the R.F.Q. <br />process. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and <br />
