CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO.2025 - 72 <br />BY: Mayor Jones and Councilwoman Hemann <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT A <br />DONATION OF AN AGILE CANINE VEST WITH BALLISTIC <br />PROTECTION FROM COUNCILWOMAN MARY ELLEN HEMANN, <br />VALUED AT $1,232.30, TO BE USED BY THE NORTH OLMSTED <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND DEPLOYED BY THE K-9 UNIT FOR <br />PROTECTION OF ITS DOG, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Ward 4 Councilwoman Mary Ellen Hemann has graciously offered a <br />donation of a new Agile Canine Vest with ballistic protection, valued at $1,232.30, to be used by <br />the North Olmsted Police Department, specifically deployed by the K-9 Unit for protection of its <br />dog, whose name is "Tank", and is for use by his handler, Patrolman Austin Ashenfelter; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor requests that Council recognize and accept this generous <br />donation and join in her expression of gratitude on behalf of the City, law enforcement and the <br />entire community; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires to authorize the Mayor to accept the donation of <br />equipment worth approximately $1,232.30, with the sincerest appreciation of Council. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THIS CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the City of North Olmsted authorizes the Mayor to accept the <br />donation of a new Agile Canine Vest with ballistic protection, valued at approximately <br />$1,232.30, from Ward 4 Councilwoman Mary Ellen Hemann and further authorizes the Mayor to <br />execute any documents required for the donation of said equipment. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and <br />further for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately due to <br />the urgent need for public safety and to make the donation official and put the vest to use <br />immediately; further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of <br />Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the <br />Mayor. <br />PASSED: <br />i <br />ATTEST.• <br />AEATRICE TAYLOR <br />Clerk of Council <br />1:1QX15— First Reading: <br />Second Reading:s�enc�q� <br />Third Reading. 9:Z A. 40 <br />Committee: A11 A <br />LO S J BROSSARD <br />President of Council <br />
