CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO.2025 - 70 <br />By: Mayor Jones <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACQUIRE AN <br />ADDITIONAL EIGHT (8) FLOCK SAFETY FALCON LICENSE PLATE <br />READERS (LPRs) AS PART OF THE VIOLENT CRIME REDUCTION <br />PROGRAM GRANT TOTALING $24,000.00 AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Flock Safety is a public safety operating system that captures objective <br />evidence, makes it actionable, and delivers it directly to the Division of Police to prevent and <br />solve criminal activity; and <br />WHEREAS, an implemented Flock Safety system is designed to provide a greater level <br />of safety and security to both neighborhood and business districts; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council previously authorized the acquisition of Flock License Plate <br />Readers and the same have been installed and activated throughout the City of North Olmsted; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the current Flock License Plate Readers have been highly successful and <br />integral in assisting law enforcement in the apprehension of individuals wanted for the <br />commission of crimes in and around the City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, given the success of the LPR program, the North Olmsted Police <br />Department requests the acquisition of eight (8) additional Flock Safety Falcon LPR's as part of <br />the approved Violent Crime Reduction Grant fund for $24,000.00. These funds that will cover <br />the first year of the program for the additional cameras; and <br />WHEREAS, these additional LPR's will give extended coverage to main thoroughfares <br />throughout the City on primarily the large, multidirectional intersections of Country Club and <br />Great Northern Boulevards, where hotels, restaurants, the mall area and I-480 are located and are <br />heavily traversed on a daily basis; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Public Safety to proceed with <br />the acquisition of eight (8) additional Flock Safety Falcon LPR's through the grant from the <br />Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services; and <br />WHEREAS, these additional LPR's will be added to our existing lease agreement with <br />Flock and the $24,000.00 grant funds will cover the first year of services for the new cameras. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />
