CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2026 - 34 <br />By: Mayor Jones <br />A RESOL UTIONA UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF RECREA TION AND <br />PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT TO MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK <br />GRANT ("CDBG') FUNDS FOR THE NORTH OLMSTED SENIOR CENTER <br />& COMMUNITY CABIN ADA ENTRANCE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT, <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted is eligible to apply for grant funding <br />administered by Cuyahoga County including funding from 2026 Special Municipal <br />Grant application; and <br />WHEREAS, the 2026 Special Municipal Grant funds total $1,500,000.00, with <br />$1,000,000.00 going towards street improvement projects and $500,000.00 going <br />toward Senior related projects; and <br />WHEREAS, the senior related awards will be up to $167,000.00 for a Senior <br />related project; and <br />WHEREAS, the contract dates will be July 1, 2026 — June 30, 2027; and <br />WHEREAS, based on grant requirements, the administration requests <br />authorization to apply for CDBG Special Municipal Grant funding to construct <br />accessibility improvements for ADA compliance at North Olmsted Senior Center <br />and Community Cabin ADA entrance improvement project; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Recreation and Public Engagement to apply for such funding and, if granted, to further <br />authorize the Mayor to execute a contract required to accept such funding. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and she hereby is authorized on behalf of the City of <br />North Olmsted to make application for a 2026 Special Municipal Grant administered by Cuyahoga <br />County, to accept the grant funds, if awarded, and to execute a contract with Cuyahoga County if <br />required, following contract approval by the Director of Law. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />further reason that immediate authorization will allow the City to meet the April 23, 2026 deadline; <br />
