'1 :'i <br />ORDINANCE N0. 84- 4 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole <br />;" <br />AN ORDINANCE SUBMITTING TO THE <br />ELECTORS OF MAYFIELD VILLAG E, OHIO, <br />CERTAIN QUESTIONS AS TO PROPOSED <br />AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE <br />VILLAGE, PROVIDING FOR ALL NECES- <br />SARY PROCEDURES IN CONNECTION <br />THEREWITH AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. Pursuant to Article X of the Charter of <br />Mayfield Village, Ohio, the Village Council proposes the following <br />amendments to the Charter of the Village, said proposed amendments to <br />be submitted to the electors of the Village at the regularly scheduled <br />primary election to be held in the municipality on the 8th day of May, <br />1984. The proposed amendments shall be designated by a ballot <br />question number and each individual question shall be further <br />designated by an individually lettered subheading. The proposed <br />amendments and respective ballot questions shall be as follows: <br />(Deleted material appears like ti~te and new material appears <br />like THIS) <br />A. Shall Section 4 of Article III, of the Charter of Mayfield <br />Village, Ohio, be amended by adding an additional sentence at the end <br />of said Section which shall read as follows: <br />IN ADDITION TO THE FOREGOING QUALIFICATIONS, NO PERSON <br />SHALL BE ELIGIBLE TO SERVE AS A MEMBER OF COUNCIL FROM <br />A WARD UNLESS SUCH•PERSON HAS BEEN, FOR AT-LEAST ONE <br />(1) CONTINUOUS YEAR IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO EITHER HIS <br />ELECTION OR APPOINTMENT, A RESIDENT OF THE WARD TO BE <br />REPRESENTED AND DiJRING SUCH TERM OF OFFICE SHALL <br />CONTINUE TO BE A-RESIDENT OF THAT SAME WARD. <br />The ballot question for this proposed amendment to the Charter <br />shall read: <br />(A) Shall the qualifications for Ward Councilman in <br />Mayfield Village be amended so as to_ require that <br />a candidate for such office be a resident of the <br />ward for at least one (1) year before election or <br />appointment and that such person remain a resident <br />of the ward during his term of office? <br />
