'1 :'i ORDINANCE N0. 84- 4 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole ;" AN ORDINANCE SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORS OF MAYFIELD VILLAG E, OHIO, CERTAIN QUESTIONS AS TO PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE VILLAGE, PROVIDING FOR ALL NECES- SARY PROCEDURES IN CONNECTION THEREWITH AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: Section 1. Pursuant to Article X of the Charter of Mayfield Village, Ohio, the Village Council proposes the following amendments to the Charter of the Village, said proposed amendments to be submitted to the electors of the Village at the regularly scheduled primary election to be held in the municipality on the 8th day of May, 1984. The proposed amendments shall be designated by a ballot question number and each individual question shall be further designated by an individually lettered subheading. The proposed amendments and respective ballot questions shall be as follows: (Deleted material appears like ti~te and new material appears like THIS) A. Shall Section 4 of Article III, of the Charter of Mayfield Village, Ohio, be amended by adding an additional sentence at the end of said Section which shall read as follows: IN ADDITION TO THE FOREGOING QUALIFICATIONS, NO PERSON SHALL BE ELIGIBLE TO SERVE AS A MEMBER OF COUNCIL FROM A WARD UNLESS SUCH•PERSON HAS BEEN, FOR AT-LEAST ONE (1) CONTINUOUS YEAR IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO EITHER HIS ELECTION OR APPOINTMENT, A RESIDENT OF THE WARD TO BE REPRESENTED AND DiJRING SUCH TERM OF OFFICE SHALL CONTINUE TO BE A-RESIDENT OF THAT SAME WARD. The ballot question for this proposed amendment to the Charter shall read: (A) Shall the qualifications for Ward Councilman in Mayfield Village be amended so as to_ require that a candidate for such office be a resident of the ward for at least one (1) year before election or appointment and that such person remain a resident of the ward during his term of office?
