RESOLUTION NO. 81-23 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF THE <br />EMPLOYEE HOSPITALIZATION AND MEDICAL COVERAGE <br />PLAN FROM THE PRUDENTIAL INSURANCE CO. TO THE <br />AETNA LIFE AND CASUALTY CO., AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the municipality has been under contract with the <br />Prudential Insurance Co. for the provision of hospitalization and <br />medical coverage for Village employees entitled to such benefits; and <br />WHEREAS, Council has previously determined that the coverage <br />provided by the Prudential Insurance Co. is less beneficial than <br />other. available covered plans; and <br />WHEREAS, Council has determined that it is in the best interests <br />of the Village and its employees to discontinue the hospitalization <br />and medical coverage plan previously provided by the Prudential <br />Insurance Co. and to contract with the Aetna Life and Casualty Co. <br />for its high-level benefit plan of hospitalization and medical coverage; <br />now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. Effective with the premium period commencing April <br />10, 1981 the Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, hereby authorizes, <br />empowers and directs the Mayor and Finance Director to enter into a <br />contract with the Aetna Life and Casualty Co. for hospitalization <br />and medical coverage for Village employees under the Aetna "High-Level <br />Benefit Plan". Such contract shall be in accordance with the terms <br />and conditions of the proposal made by Aetna for provision of such <br />coverage, and shall furthermore be in a form satisfactory to the <br />Director of Law. <br />Section 2. The Mayor and Finance Director are further authorized, <br />empowered and directed to perform whatever acts are necessary in order <br />to terminate the coverage previously provided by the Prudential <br />Insurance Co. if the cancellation of such policy has not been completed <br />by the effective date hereof. <br />Section 3. This Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the health, <br />safety and welfare of the residents of Mayfield Village in that it <br />provides for a necessary benefit for the services rendered by Village <br />employees and thus will help maintain essential governmental services. <br />It shall therefore take effect immediately upon passage by the <br />
