ORDINANCE NO. 80-14 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE DECLARING FALSE ARREST <br />INSURANCE TO BE NONCOMPETITIVE AND AUTHORIZING <br />THE PURCHASE OF SAME. <br />WHEREAS, LOVE INSURANCE AGENCY currently provides false <br />arrest .insurance for the members of the Police Department and certain <br />officials, as well as for the Village itself; and <br />WHEREAS, the renewal contract will carry a premium of more <br />than $2,500, which would normally make it subject to bid; and <br />WHEREAS, the Law Director has advised that there is cur- <br />rently no market providing as broad a policy to new risks regardless <br />of premium, so that advertising and bidding would be a needless <br />expense; now, therefore, <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. .False arrest insurance is declared to be non- <br />competitive iri the existing insurance market. <br />Section 2. The Mayor and Finance Director are hereby <br />authorized and directed to execute the false arrest insurance policy <br />with North ..East Insurance Company, a copy of which is attached hereto <br />and marked Exhibit "A", at the currently quoted premium, not to exceed <br />$3,500.00. <br />Section 3. This is an emergency ordinance immediately <br />necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the residents of <br />Mayfield Village in that it will protect the Village, its elected <br />and appointed officials and its Police Department from liability <br />thus insuring continued high morale and effective operation of the <br />Village's law enforcement department.
