RESOLUTITON N0. 84- 1_2 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen & Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION URGING THE STATE HOUSE <br />OF REPRESENTATIV ES TO DEFEAT <br />AMENDED H.B. 534 PERTAINING TO <br />FUNDING FOR MUNICIPAL COU RTS. <br />WHEREAS, State Representatives Frank Mahnic, Jre, Ronald J. <br />Suster and James M. Petro have sponsored Amended H.B. 534, which would <br />amend Section 1901.026 of the Ohio Revised Code so as to permit fines <br />levied by a municipal court to be paid to the municipal corporation in <br />which the municipal court is locatec7 to be applied toward the court°s <br />operating costs instead of paying saici fines to the municipal <br />corporation in which the off ense originatec3; and <br />WHEREASo the three State Representatives sponsoring the <br />legislation reside in municipalities wherein municipal courts are <br />located; and <br />WHEREAS, the legislation sponsored by the af orementioned <br />Representatives appears to favor the municipalities in which the <br />Representatives reside to the detriment of the other municipalities <br />within their districts; and <br />WH EREAS, Amended H.B. 534 unf airly and arbitrarily permits <br />the municipal corporation in which the municipal courts are located to <br />withhold that amount determined to be the obligation of other munici- <br />pal corporations situated within the court jurisdiction; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THP,T: <br />Section 1. The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, <br />Ohio, urge the members of the Ohio House of Representatives and all <br />members of the Ohio Senate to defeat Amended H.B. 534. <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and <br />directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to Governor Richard <br />Celeste, State Representatives Frank Mahnic, Jr., Ronald J. Suster, <br />and James M. Petro, and to the Clerks of Council in the Hillcrest <br />area. <br />Section 3 This Resolution shall take effect at the
