1
Lutes of Special Meeting
June 6, 1955
The Council of the Village of Mayfield met in special meeting
at the Village Hall at 8:00 04 clock P. N1. pursuant to notice given to
all members of Council, according to law. Mayor Endres presided.
Ro11 Call: Present -Messrs Swanson,Strater,Taylor,Beard ~ Oates.
Absent Tyr. ~dhiting.
Mayor Endress then addressed Cotuicil saying that they had all
been called together to consider the proposed route of the Cincinnati -
Conneaut Turnpike. Mr. Endress went on to say that this had some serious
aspects as to the future. of our village, and if plans were carried out
as directed by the Regional Planning Co7rnnission in their prospectus as
presented to Council9 he was. doubtful if there would be enough of
Mayfield Village left to carry on the name.
Mayor Endres then asked Council to consider the sum total of
tax exempt land in the Vil7.age and to it add the land to be taken by
the Turnpike Commission.. T~dith a little figuring and the expression of
a great deal of irritation towards the regional planning commission,
Council arrived at the conclusion that' with the addition of the Turnpike
land to the already large exempt area, nearly one-half of our four square
mile village would be tax exempt and the other half devalued by the
Tw°npike of not sufficient area to be known as a Village.
IYrr, Taylor then introduced Resolution No. 285 entitled: "A
Resolution taking exception to the proposed Conneaut-Cincinnati. Turnpike
Route through Cuyahoga County, Chio, and particularly through Mayfield
Vil~la.ge", which resolution was read to Council.
It was moved by Mr. Stranson, seconded by I"ir. Beard, that the rules
of law requiring a resolution to be read on three separate occasions
be suspended.
Roll. Call: Ayes -Messrs SZ.ra,nson,Strater,Taylor,Beard ~ Cates.
Nays -None.
Rules Suspended
It was moved by Mr. Oatess, seconded by Mr. Taylor, that Resolution
No. 285 be approved and passed as read.
Roll Call: Ayes -Messrs Swanson,Strater,Taylor,Beard ~ Cates.
Nays -None.
Motion Carried
Resolution Passed
