1 <br />Minutes of Special Meeting <br />August 2~9, 1955 <br />The Council of the Vi7~.age of Mayfield met in special meeting at the <br />Village Hall at 8:00 P. M., pursuant to notice given to all members of <br />Council,. according to law' Mayor Endress presiding. <br />Roll Ca71:.Present -Messrs Swanson' Taylor' Whiting, Beard & Oatess. <br />Absent - Mr. Strater <br />As the Village of Mayfield had been left unprotected by the wrecking <br />of our police car, and the_Council had been called to take care of the <br />emergency, r'jayor Endress asked for a report from the safety committee who <br />had been reviewing the situation. Mr. ~ard9 reporting for the Safety Committee' <br />said that his committee had gone into the matter rather deeply ands considering <br />the mileage and conclition of our car and the cost of repair, which had been <br />estimated to be between X300 and ~3t~0, provided no further damage was found <br />after repairs had started, and being fearful of an out of lane frame9 the <br />safety committee had decided it was best to replace the present police car <br />with a new one, Mr. Taylor spoke also of the tame needed to make these <br />repairs and the necessity of getting a car on the road in the quickest way <br />possible. The Safety Committee then presented three offers for immediate <br />replacement of our police car. One from Euclid for X850.00 would duplicate <br />our present car. One from Heights Motors fora 2 door Fordomatic Station <br />Wagon for X920.00 and one from r'jayfield Sales & Service .for an 8 cyl3.nder <br />two door station wagon for X999.00. <br />The~Finance Committee reporting newt recommended replacement of our.,; <br />present car with the offer of the Euclid Ford Company as being the quickest <br />and most economical way out of otn' emergency. <br />After considerable discussion by Council, Mr. whiting, seconded by <br />Mr. Beard, introduced Ordinance No. 520 entitled: "An Ordinance to Provide <br />for the Itrmiediate Purchase of a Police Automobile in. an Emergency=', which <br />ordinance was read to Council. <br />It was mov®d by Mr. Swanson, seconded by Mr. Taylor, that the rules <br />of law requiring an ordinance to be read on three separate occasions be <br />suspended. <br />Ro11 CaLle: byes -Messrs Swanson, Taylor,Wlziting, Beard & Oatess. <br />. Nays -None. _. . <br />Motion carried <br />Rules suspended <br />It was moved by Mrd Swanson, seconded by Mr. T~,ylor~ that Ordinance <br />No. 520 be approved and passed as read. <br />Roll Cal ]_s Ayes -Messrs Swanson, Taylor, whiting, Beard & Oatess. <br />Nays - Noneo <br />Motion carried <br />Ordinance passed <br />1. <br />
