1 Minutes of Special .Meeting September 1, 1955 The CouncLl of the Village of N~.yfield met iri special meeting at the Town Hall at 8:00 P. M.,,pursuant to notice given to all members of Council, according_to la~ur. Mayor Endress presiding. Rol]. CaT1:~ Present - P'~essrs whiting, Swanson, Strater,Beard & Oatess Absent - 1`~r. Taylor. Mro Strater, seconded by Mr. Oatess, introduced Ordinance No. 521 entitled: "An Emergency Ordinance Determining to Proceed ~'Tith the Improvement of SOM Center Road in the Village of I~Zayfield~ ~ Ohi.o, from Highland Road, in the Northerly Direction 2.00 Feet, by the Constr°o.etion of a. ~Tater Main", which ordinance was read to Council. It was moved by Mra Swanson, seconded by Mr. Strater, that the rules of law requiring an ordinance to be read on three separate occasions be suspended. Roll. Ca1.7.: Ayes -Messrs ~G~Thi_ting, Swanson, Strater,Beard & Oatess. Nays -None. _ Motion carried Rules suspended It was moved by Mra Beard, seconded by Mr. Strater, that Ordinance No. 521 be approved and passed as read. Ro11 Call: Ayes -Messrs ~Thiting,Swanson,Strater,Beard & Oatess. Nays -None. Motion carried Ordinance passed Our Engineer was then instructed to advertise S.O.M. No. ~ for bids. Mr. Strater, seconded by Mr. Oatess, then moved as follows: "In view of -the misunderstanding that has arisen in regard to the action of Council at the last regular meeting, and in view of the erroneous report in one newspaper regarding that action, the record should~be clarified to show that the Safety and Service Committee was not reorganized for personal reasons or for reasons reflecting on the ability or conduct of ar~y council- man; be it therefore resolved that the former Chairman of the Safety and Service Committee, Councilman Herbert R. ~~hiting, be commended for his work in that regard and that an expression of regret be formally conveyed to him, by the Clerk9 that, due to the press of other duties, he was unable to continue to render his valuable services in that offices' Ro1.1 Call: Ayes -Messrs Swanson, Strater, Beard and Oatess.
