1 <br />Minutes of the Special Meeting <br />Held October 28, 1950 <br />A Special Council Meeting duly called pursuant to notice, met <br />in the Tovrxa Ha11 ova October 28th, 1950, at 5:30 oYClock Po M., Mayor <br />Gustav S~rarison presiding. _ ~, _ . <br />Roll Call: Present - Messrs Hardman, Casse Scheux~.rig, Taylor, <br />Godfrey, and Hall _ <br />Absent -None. <br />In the absence of Mr. ti"Jhitinge the •Clerk9 T~4ayor Svranson <br />appointed Councilman Godfrey to act•as Clerk pro tem. This Special <br />meeting was called to take care of the emergency caused; by lack of <br />policemen in the Villagee Patrolman Herbert Leppelmeier having resigned <br />t0 enter the armed serVl.Ces, <br />A great deal of discussion eras had as to the means of obtaining <br />a nevr policemen® After questioning Police Chief Dixon, it was found that <br />all of the Villages are paying moz°e than Mayfield,Village to their Policemen <br />and that it_ would be impossible to obtain another mesa under the present <br />salary set up. It eras brought out that the Village of Gates Mills pays <br />its patrolmen X300.00 per month, Mayfield Heights X287®00 per_monthe asad <br />Highland Heights ~1®25 per hour for patrolmen, X1050 for the Police <br />Id.euteriaxat, and ~p$00~00 par month for the Chief , of Policed <br />PSra Hall then introduced Ordinance No© 362, entitled: ''An <br />Ordinance to Repeal Ordinances Nos. 2969 325, 348 and 356, axed to Provide <br />for the Offices and Compensation of Nla,rshall and Chief of Police, Policemen <br />axed Special Policeme~a,t9 <br />It was moved by Mr. Godfrey, seconded by T+Irse Casse that the <br />Axles of law requi.ra.ng this_.ordiriarice to be read on three, separate <br />occasions be suspended. <br />Ro11.
