RESQLUTION N0. 82- 23 ,- INTRODUCED BY: Mayor & Members of Council A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE RENEWAL OF A 1.6 MILL LEVY FOR PAYMENT OF SALARIES OF PERMANENT POLICE PERSONNEL FOR THE TAX DUPLICATE YEARS 1982 THROUGH 1986, INCLUSIVE AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH. WHEREAS, Section 5705.19(J) of the Ohio Revised Code provides that the taxing authority of a political subdivision of this State may submit a proposal to the voters for an addi- tional levy of taxes for payment of salaries of permanent police personnel; and WHEREAS, Section 5705.191 of the Ohio Revised Code permits the holding of a special election for the purpose of voting on the passage of such levy; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village have determined that such an additional levy is necessary to continue payment of salaries of permanent police personnel; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUI`dCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIQ, THAT: Section l. The Mayor and Council have determined that the revenue which may be raised by the levy of taxes within the ten (10) mill limitation authorized by Section 5705.02 of the Ohio Revised Code will be insufficient to provide an adequate amount for the payment of salaries of permanent police personnel employed by the municipality and it is, therefore, necessary for the purpose of providing additional funds f_or payment of such salraries of permanent police personnel that taxes be levied on the taxable property within Mayfield Village for a period of five (5) years at a rate in excess of such maximum return authorized by Section 5705.02 of the Ohio Revised Coc1e, such additional ariount beino 1.6 mills. Section 2. The question of the renewal of the 1.6 mill levy on eac ollar of tax valuation of the taxable property on the tax duplicate within Mayfield Village, Ohio, which amounts to sixteen cents ($.16) on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) of valuation of said property, for a period of five (5) years beginning with the tax duplicate for the year 1982 for the payment of salaries of permanent police personnel for Mayfield Village, Ohio, under the provisions of Section 5705.19 of the Ohio Revised Code, be submitted to the electors of Mayfield Village at a special election to be held on the same date as the primary election scheduled for June 8, 1982, as authorized by law, and that said election shall be conducted, canvassed, an3 certified in the manner provided by law.
