Gareau, Mayor; Bruce IHacDonald, President of Council; HenrNl <br />Caster, Ralph Christman, James Leonard, Dewey Limpe,rt, A.Lo Mangani, Lil}ian <br />Nicholaso <br />Also present were Lloyd E. Barnes, Service Director, George Schaaf, Law Director:. <br />James T. Wilson, Safety Director; Alex Kanareff, Engineeri William Gerlach, Finance <br />Director; and Louise Hall, Clerk. <br />Absent: Francis J. 0'Neill <br />The minutes of the meeting of March 20, 1962 were approved as recorded, <br />The Safety Director advised that he had received requests from residents of Coe <br />Ave. regarding installation of a traffic light at Coe and Lorain and after making <br />a survey of this area is of the opinion that a traffec light is not warranted now_ <br />The Safety Director requested that Council consider legislation for the instal'sa#+arx <br />of sidewalks on the south side of Lorain from Coe west to Columbia as a great <br />number of children do walk to school from the area on the south side of Lorain <br />and have been crossing at Coe and Lorain because therp are no sidewalks an the <br />south side of the street. He also requested that Council check areas near all <br />the schools as he feels that there should be sidewalks within a half mile of schools. <br />This matter was turned over to the Safety Committee ftDr their review. <br />The Service Director advised that he had received a bill in the amount of $3250 00 <br />from Philip Engoglia for the construction of a 36" storm sewer in Terrace Drive <br />Estates and that he has been unable to find any le.gislation or motion of CounciE <br />authorizing the payment of this bill. This was turned over to the Public Developmer.t <br />and Service Dommittee for their review. <br />The Service Director advised that he has been unable to install the drain pppe in <br />the Stoneybrook Subdivision as the devloper has nat furnished the pipe as agreed <br />and requested Council to stop building in the subdivision unti' the pipe is on <br />the job so that this work can be completed. <br />The Service Director advised that he had received a request from the Nardi Constr:ac•- <br />tion Company for a 120 day exten5ion to their contract and the Consulting Engineer <br />recommends a 90 day extension. <br />The Service Director requested that Council recons.ider authorizing iegislatton <br />changing the present requirements for a driveway c:oncrete apron to a 6" apron <br />for residential and a 7" apron for commercial. This was turned over to the Publ;f. <br />Development and Service Committeee <br />The Service Director advised that 550 notices had been sent advising property owners <br />that they could connect to the lateral sewers and that all but 10 property owr.ers <br />have complied.
