<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL
<br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
<br />January 7, 1969
<br />Present: Present Francis J, 0'Neill, Councilmen Caster, Hodgins,
<br />Limpert, Prokasy, West.
<br />Absent: Councilmen Eian anc-1 [iiller.
<br />Also present: Mayor Ralph J. Christman, Service Director Charles
<br />Watts, Finance Director William Gerlach, Law Director
<br />J. Bruce Kitchen, Acting City Engineer Michael Karhan,
<br />=Clerk of Council Florence Holm.
<br />After adding *he words"Mr. Caster moved, seconded by Mrs. Hodgins"
<br />to paragraph on page 3 of minutes of Council of December 17., 196$
<br />(dealing wi*_h Clerk's salary), the minutes were approved as corrected.,
<br />The Mayor mentioned that the Regional Planning Commission study is
<br />expected by .?anuary 13th, and that Mr. Carl Bohm of Regional Planning,
<br />will give an informal presentation of same at Planning Commission meeting
<br />of January 14th. The Mayor also mentioned the Junior Chamber of Commerce
<br />meeting on January 9th at 3:00 p.ma, at the Country Club Aoartments C1ub-
<br />housee Representative Flannery is speaking on tax reform in the State
<br />of Ohio, and meeting is open to anyone interested.
<br />Mr. Caster, Chairman of Appointments,,industrial Development and Municipal
<br />Development committees, said that the Municipal Development Committee will
<br />meet January 14thg at 8:00 p.m.
<br />Mr. Limpert, Chairman of Transportation Committee, had no formal report
<br />from this committee, but said he, the Mayor, and Superir.tendent of the
<br />Municipal Bus Lfne had attended a meeting with County Commissioners in
<br />regard to County Transit program, which was quite informative. It is a
<br />program which we will have to look at very closely before giving any con-
<br />siderationa
<br />MrA West, Chairman Finance Committee, said that at next Council meeting,
<br />this Comn:ittee will make a presentation in detail on budget,going thru
<br />item by item, for anyone interested in knowing where money is to be sr-ent-,
<br />Committee agreed on salaries for elected officials of ^'orth Olmsted for
<br />1970. They are not recommending a raYSe for Council and President, but
<br />are recommending that the Mayar's salary be raised to $17,000; the Fin-
<br />ance Director and Law Ilirector's salaries be raised to $115000. Also
<br />longevity pay for secretaries;, clerks, Service Department and others;
<br />also legislation for taking bids for new Pol-ice car to replace one re-
<br />cently demolished.
<br />Ordinance No. 68-199, which had been introduced by Mre Caster, was given
<br />its third reading. An Ordinance establishing 713 of the Codified Qrdin--
<br />ances of the City of North Olmst?d entitled "Regulations and Minimun re-
<br />quirements for apartment houses, rental dwellings, rooming houses, dormi-
<br />tories and accessory sleeping c{uarters for non-transients, containing
<br />4 or more units. Mr. Caster moved for adoption of ordinance, seconded
