O'INeiil, Councilmen Boehmar, Limpert, Prnkuy, <br />Sariager, 3peedling. <br />Also present: Mayor Ralph Christman, Service Director Iiahry Caster, Lar <br />Di~ctor J. Bruce ~.tchen, Fi~-ance Director Williaa< Gerlach, City <br />Engineer Michael Rarhan, Clerk of Council Nora Hill. <br />Absent: Councilmen Giesler, hest. <br />Meting was called to order by President O'Neill at 8:00 P.M. <br />Minutes of Couacii Meeting of March 6, 1973, were approved as read. <br />Mayor Christman reported following: 1) The North 07.msted Jaycees, Inc, are <br />proposing a Pitch In Day and in line with this have issued procls~etien <br />declaring April 28, 1973, ae Pitch In Day in North Olmsted and et+~ccx~rage <br />all citismns to participate in the anti litter and clean up drive in every <br />way possible. This in conction with Jaycees Pitch In project which will <br />be long than a ~e day effort and hopefully a continuing effort, and also <br />in connection with hearimgs held on March 19th. Mayor Chris qua read pr+aralsmaton. <br />2) in receipt of $10,700. check from State for aa~ulantx purchaa~ed last year. <br />Service Director Caster reported following: l) attended ma4ting at County <br />Co®missioner's office today on solid waste program. As of right it appears <br />that for the west side they will have a transfer station at 130th 3t. and a <br />landfill in the Township operational in about 1975. Their coatcez~n about the <br />impact of proposed landfills was over the bad publicity the present landfills <br />have had in the past. The present landfills mostly are converted dues or <br />previously established as landfills before federal and state regulations hsd <br />taken hold. Presently there is only one landfill in the area which ~- came <br />up to regulations and that is the one in Westlake with estimated life of $ or <br />7 years. The paw landfills are in essence enviro~esentslly closely controlled <br />both aesthaticallq and for run off contaminants and any other rules atad repuls- <br />tions that have been net up by Fscteral and State Statutes. Latest estimate of <br />Rockside Landfill is another 6 to 7 years. <br />2) would like to call attention of Finance Committee to prior request far <br />sodium aluminate. <br />President O`Neill congratulated Public Works Cos~nissioner Weldon on firms jcib <br />performed under adverse weather conditions over past weekend with snow, etc. <br />Mrs. Beringer, Chaire~an Envir tat Control Camaittee, raportecl follaw3: <br />1) coaimittea met an March 1Sth. In attendance ware Mr. Li,~ert, City der <br />Karh~, Mayor Christman and Mr. DiBs~nnadetto. Discussed his p~-1 of <br />creating a separate se~war district on Mastick aaod Brookpark ibz his <br />proposed s~pattaie~ats. No action was tdehn until the Lazy Director gives legal <br />ogin~ before contract is dram up. <br />2) discussed what Co~+mittes will do far Barth Day, April 26th. Cameittse <br />decided to work in ccxt~unction witfi the Jaycees who are conducting a Pitch In <br />Day. The day will be ds~roted to the collection of litter thrvu~out Nc~-rth <br />Olmsted.
