~..~._ _._...~"1-_-- <br />rY_ ~',a .___..~...~.~, <br />RE50LtJT I ON REQUES•i• 1 NG THAT T!°lE GOVERNOR OF- OH i f) <br />EXPEDITE THE CONSTRUCTION OF i - 80 WlTNIN ;'Fii: <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted has established an inu~st;i~:,i <br />area, and the administration of the City is increasinn its erfor°ts r~~} <br />convince industry to locate within the City of North O'rnsted, anu <br />WHEREAS, the increase of industry will re`ult in an increase ire <br />population within the City of North Olmsted, and <br />WHEREAS, the construction of I-80 will assist the City in <br />attracting industry to the City of North Olmsted and will further the <br />accessability of other parts of Cuyahoga County to industry and the <br />citizens of the City of North Olmsted, and <br />WHEREAS, exit 9 of the Ohio Turnpike causes large numbers of <br />trucks and other vehicles to use Route 10 in North Olmsted in passage to <br />• and from Cleveland, the Cleveland Hopkins Air Port, and N,A.S.A „ and <br />WHEREAS, existing State Routes 10 and 1% through Nortkr Olmsted <br />are a constant problem as to traffic congestion, traffic control and <br />maintenance; and <br />WHEREAS, the rapid growth and expansion of North Olmsted compounds <br />the traffic problem here-to-fore mentioned by adding local traffic to thr <br />number of vehicles using Routes 10 and ];, and <br />WHEREAS, North Olmsted is co-operating with the Ohia Department <br />of Health to clean up the pollution of the Lake Erie Watershed, and in so <br />doing is installing sanitary sewers in another section of the City through <br />which 1-80 will pass, and <br />WHEREAS, these new sewers will open up vacant land in the path <br />of I-$0 for development, and <br />WHEREAS, even now, .without sanitary sewers in this area, <br />development is continually proposed by developers and continually oppased <br />by the City of North Olmsted, and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted has co-operated with the <br />State of Ohio Department of Highways by discouraging development in the <br />route of I-80. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />North Olmsted, State of Ohic: <br />Section 1: That this Council hereby requests Governor <br />James A. Rhodes if he will, through the auspices of his office, expedite <br />the construction of I-80 in order that the City of North Olmsted can attract <br />industry to locate and establish within the City of North Olmsted and help <br />alleviate the problems as mentioned above. <br />Section 2: That the Clerk of Council is directed to forward a <br />copy of this Resolution to the Governor in Columbus, Ohio <br />
