Chrlstman has resigned from the officc~e of <br />Chief of Pc~icas of the City of North Olmsted, after a period of forty years <br />of ccrntinuaus service in various ranks; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted is desirous of formally <br />adrnvwledging his long and faittdul service. <br />NOW, THEREFOtt£, dE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />North dlmsted, State of Ohio: <br />Section 1: That the following citation shall be spread upon the <br />fonaal minutes of this Ccaur-cil and made a ~rmanent pert of the reccxds of <br />the City of North Olmsted: <br />~TATtO.~ <br />Ott January 1, 19 Z 6 , George H . Ghrl semen became <br />Iularshall of the Yille of North Olmsted and <br />sarwwed as Marshall of the Villas of North Olmsted <br />for a period of twenty-four (2~l1 years . <br />He was appointed Chief of Police on January 1,1950 , <br />which post he held until his retirement January 1, 1966. <br />Clef Christman served with devotion dwring the <br />greatest pee'iod of t4ievelopment in the City's history, <br />seeing its p+opul+atlan grew, and the responsibilities <br />of a modem police foxce greatly increased. <br />Gecsrge Christman was a man who, as the responsibilitiaes <br />of the Polies bepartnt grew , Rept abreast of modern <br />police methods and was still able to apply a common <br />sense appraaeh to his duties as Chief of Police. The <br />result of this was to win for him the admiration of the <br />police officers who served under him as wail as the <br />admiration and cooperation of neighboring communities. <br />S He served his City beyond the call of duty and hi s <br />honesty and integrity was not and cannot be questioned. <br />His loyalty and devotion were in the highest traditions <br />of his profession, and his efforts are a monument to his <br />long sefvic~ . <br />His City is deeply grateful and fortunate, to have a parson <br />of such high moroi character combined. with honesty, <br />integrity a~i lo~raity, both as they applied to his fellow <br />police officers end to the residents of the City of North <br />Olmsted . <br />
