The words "business or closely built up portions" shall be held to <br />mean the followings Detroit Avenue from West il?th Street to Rock~ River <br />BridgeS Madison Avenue from West ll?th Street to Riverside, Highland Avenue <br />from Lake Avenue south to the city <br /> <br />~. No person shall operate a motor vehicle in and upon the public roads <br />and highways at a speed greater or less than is reasonable or proper, having <br />due regard to the traffic, surface and width of the road of highway, and of <br />any other conditions then existing, and no person ~all drive any motor <br />vehicle in and upon any public road or highway at a speed greater than will <br />permit him to bring it to a stop within the assured clear distance ahead. <br /> <br />It shall be prima facie lawful for the operator of a motor vehicle to clTive <br />the same at a speed no'~ exceeding the following: <br /> <br />Twenty (E0) miles per hour in the b~einess and closely built up portions. <br />of the City. <br /> <br />Thirty five {35) miles per hour in all other portions of the city. <br /> <br />It shall be prima facie unlawful for any person to exceed any of the fore- <br />going speed limitations. In every charge of violation of this section the <br />complaint, also the sum~uons of notice to appear, shall specify the speed <br />at which the defendant is alleged to have driven, alsO the speed, if any, <br />which this section declares shell be prima facie unlawful at the time amd <br />place of such alleged violation. <br /> <br />Any person who violates the provisions of this section shall be deemed <br />guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined as <br />hereinafter provided. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That said old Section $1 of Ordinance No. ZIT1, be and it is hereby <br />repealed. <br /> <br />SEOT~0N ~.
