Every service shall also be Provided .~rith a 'nipple twofeet in l~ugth, with a union attached, Just back of the maim step andwaste cock in the b~sement or vault to provide msuitable space f~ a me, er which is tcbe set on the service pipe amd ac arranged' that tham~e~ will be above the floor line of the basemen~ or vault. PI~ NOT TO BE PLACED ~I~O~G OUTSIDE WALLS: ~o pipe shall be placed along an outside wall of any buildiug unless the same be boxed in and protected from frost to the satisfaction of the Water Department. Before such permission is granted, plam~ in duplicate shewing how the proposed ocmneotion ia to be made, shall be ~1~ mitred to amd approved by the Superintea~en~ of the Water Department. One se~ of plane will be kept on file in the office of the Water Department. On all sizes of pipe 1'11/2 inches sm~ over a suitable check valve shall be placed in each service pipe as close as possible to the main valve. Such check valve if placed under grouud shall be located in a vault or pit easily accessible through a manhole. ~*ATER CLOS@TS~ Water closets must be fitted to be operated by the regular water closet valwee of the different makes$ the valve known as the Hopper valve, with continual flow while in use, will not be allowed. The use of ordinary draw cooks, in connection with water closets, will not be permitted. RULE 55- FIRE PIPE ~PPLICATION: ~very person desiring a supply of water ~or a fire pipe and com~ion with the City's ~ins, ~s~ ~ke an application for the same in ~iti~, upom on file in the office of the Water Depar~emt. Such applinant ~sh, either directly or t~ough the local fire underwriters' ins~c~on of- fice, plans, to be filed at the office of the Water Depar~ent, o~ the pipi~ and appliances to ~e used in connection ther~th.
