STREET OPENING PEP~iIT REQUIRED: Before permits for extending connections are iseue~, the plumber must pre- sent a permit from the Director of Public Works, authoriziug him to open the street, lane or alley, in which connection is to be ma~e. ~o licensed plumbe~ will be grauted e permit for work to be done by e person not tu the employ of such plumber. hXT~SION OF SERVIC~ PIPES: Ho plumber or other person shall make any attachment cr connection to the service pipes belonging to or supplied with ~ater by the City l~ater Departmen~ or to pipes belonging to water consumers, nor extend any service connection nor ~ke any additions to or repairs or alterations in any tap, pipe, cook or other fixtures connected with the water service pipes, unless he shall first procure a permit from the Water Department for such work and shall do the same in oomformitywith the ordinances of the City ~ud the rules and ~egulations of the Depart~aeut of Public ~orks governin~ such work. In~nu_eacturing plants employing their own machinists or pipe fitters, special permits may he granted at the option of the lYater Department, for the to be done on the premises only, and provided that such work shall not be done for ether parties. WATER EOT TO BE LEFT ON BY PL~BERS: ::o plumber after making any connection with the service pipes, or after iug any repairs or putting in any new plumbing or attachments, shall leave the stop cock open, or leave the water turned omen the premises without per- mission frmmthe Water Departm~ent'Superintendent, unless a meter has bees in- stalled on the premises and the water found turned on. iZeters must be in- stalled on all premises before water is used for domestic purposes. No person shall place' or depcsi2 any dirt or ~terial in any'fire hydrant, or in any valve box or atop cock box, or cc~m~t any act tending to obstruct the use thereof, or injure in any-~auner any fixture connected with the systm of the City ~ater Department. OBSTRUCTING USE OF BUI~DII~GS, )L&CHII~:~RY, ~TC. Uo person shall commit any act tending to obstruct the usa thereof in any r~armer, ~ny building, machinery, pipe, apparatus or other fixture of the City ~Tater Department.
