Prepare necessary plans and applications for permits for the submission to and approval of local, state and Federal authorities, as may be required - - the cost of such permits to be paid by the City, but the cost of preparing such plans and applications shall be borne by the Engineers; 12. Make acceptance tests of all pu~ping equipment and tests for acceptability of all other equipment incorporated in the work';' 13. Furnish a resident engineer and necessary inspectors during the construction of said water works improvements. The resident engineer shall at all times be on the site of the work an5 his duties shall be tosupervise constantly said construction, make out reports for the main office of the Engineers, to confer with the main office of the Engineers, and to see that the said contractors are carry- ing out the work in accordance with the plans and specifica- tions. The Engineers shall be responsible for the inspection of the materials used in connection with the work and shall acquaint the City with the progress of the work, and make out such other reports as may be required by the City. ARTICLE II: The City agrees: 1. To furnish the Engineers with a complete and accurate survey of the site of the improvement, giving the grades and lines of streets, pavements, and boundaries, ri~hts- of-way or other surveys; 2. To pay for test borings,sub-surface explorations, or other investigations required for the determination of fotmdation conditions; 3. That any legal services required on behalf o£ the City during the progress of the work shall be furnished by the City; 4. That it will assist the Engineers throughout the work by placing at their disposal, in suitable form, all avail- able pertinent information that the City may have in its possession. .Engineers compensation for such 5.
