BY Mr. McGill <br /> <br /> AN E~RGENCY ORDINANCE to amend section 59-1 of Ordinance NO. 4060 kno~n <br />as the Traffic Ordinance, as amended and ren~abered by Ordinance Nee 4629 adopted <br />September 6, 1949. <br /> <br /> WHERF~S, an emergency exists in that traffic hazards and conditions require <br />constant appraisal and flexible regulations ~o meet current needs and in order to <br />provide for the immediate preservation of the public property, health and safety <br />and the usual daily operation of a municipal department, now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THECOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAEEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That section 59-1 of Ordinance No. 4060 as amended and renumbered <br />by Ordinance No. 4629 and now reading <br /> <br /> 'Section 59-1. No Vehicle shall be operated or moved upon <br /> the streets within the City of Lakewood, having a maximum axle <br /> load greater than sixteen thousand pounds when such vehicle is <br /> equipped with solid rubber tires, or greater than eighteen thous- <br /> and p~nds when such vehicle is equipped with pneumatic tires, <br /> except that such maximum axle load may be greater than eighteen <br /> thousand pounds but not greater than twenty thousand pounds on <br /> any axle of a combination of three or more axles, to compensate <br /> for unequal distribution of load, provided that the maximum ax- <br /> le load on two such successive axles shall not exceed thirty~six <br /> thousand pounds. The maximumwheel load of any one wheel of any <br /> such vehicle shall not exceed six hundred fifty pounds per inch <br /> width of tire measured as prescribed by law, nor shall any solid <br /> tire of rubber or ether resilient material on sny wheel of any <br /> such vehicle be less than one inch thick when measured from the <br /> top of the flanges of the tire channel. <br /> <br /> The weight of vehicle and load imposed upon the road sur- <br />face by any two successive axles of a single vehicle or of a <br />single vehicle in a combination of vehicles, shall not exceed, <br />for pneumatic tires, ~en spaced less than nine feet apart, <br />thirty-two thousand pounds,~nor when spaced nine feet or more <br />apart shall not exceed thirty-six thousand pounds; nor shall <br />the weight of vehicle and load imposed upon the road surface by <br />any vehicle or combination of vehicles having three axles exceed, <br />for pneumatic tires, forty-eight thousand pounds, of having four <br />axles exceed, for pneumatic tires, sixty-three thousand pounds or <br />having five or more axles, exceed, for pneumatic tires seventy- <br />eight thousand pounds; nor shall such weight of vehicle and load <br />exceed for solid tires, eighty per cent of the permissible weight <br />of vehicle mud load as provided for pneumatic tires." <br /> <br />be, and it is hereby, amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "Sectien59-1.
