Vickery <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE providing for the regulation of traffic; the use of streets and <br />~idewalks; creating and defining parking meter zones; providing for the designation <br />of individual parking spaces; defining and providing for the installation, operation <br />and maintenance of parking meters; prescribing parking time limits; requiring deposit <br />of coins for the use of parking meters and parking meter zones, and providing for the <br />collection end disposition of such coins; defining offenses, prescribing penalties and <br />providing for the enforcement thereof; and repealing Ordinances 4060, 4074, 1!)!~!0, 4~54, <br />4471, ~474, 4500, 4565, 4629, 4637, 4643, 4695, 4697, 4756, 4774, 4775, and all other <br />ordinances or parts of erdinances inconsistent herewith. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IAKEWOOD, STATE OF 8HIO: <br /> <br /> Section lo This ordinance shall be known and cited as the Traffic Ordinance° <br /> <br /> Section 2. The folloWing words and phrases when used in this ordinance, unless <br />otherwise provided, shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this <br />section. <br /> <br /> Agricultural Tractor, Every self-propelled vehicle designed or used for drawing <br />other vehicles or wheeled machinery but having no provision for carrying loads inde- <br />pendently of such other vehicles, and used principally for agricultural purposeso <br /> <br /> Bicycle. A two-wheel vehicle, propelled by human power, having a tandem arrange- <br />ment of wheels equipped with tires either of which is over twenty inches in diameter. <br /> <br /> Bus. Every motor vehicle designed for carrying more than nine passengers and <br />used for the transportation of persons; and every motor vehicle, auto-for-hire or fun- <br />eral car, other than a taxicab, designed and used for the transportation of persons <br />for compensation. <br /> <br /> Business District, The territory fronting upon a street, including the street, <br />between successive intersections where 50 per cent or more of the frontage between <br />such successive intersections is occupied by buildings in use for business, or where <br />50 per cent or more of the frontage for a distance of 300 feet or more is occupied <br />by buildings in use for business and the said character of such territory is indi- <br />cated by official traffic control devices. <br /> <br /> Commercial Tractor, Every motor vehicle having motive power designed or used for <br />draWing other vehicles and not so constructed as to carry any load thereon, or designed <br />or used for drawing other vehicles while carrying a portion of.such other vehicle or <br />vehicles, or the load thereon, or botho <br /> <br /> Crosswalk. (a) That part of a roadway at an intersection included within the <br />connections of the lateral lines of the sidewalks on opposite sides of the highway <br />measured from the curbs, or in the absence of curbs from the edges of the traversable <br />roadway. <br /> <br /> (b) Any portion of a roadway at an intersection or elsewhere, distinctly indi- <br />cated for pedestrian crossing by lines or other markings on the surface. <br /> <br /> Director. The Director of Public Safety of Lakewood, Ohio° <br /> <br /> Driver or Operator. Every person who drives or is in actual physical control <br />of a vehicle, trackless trolley or street car. <br /> <br /> Emergency Vehicleo Fire department, police and state highway patrol vehicles, <br />vehicles of salvage corporations organized under Sections 9873 to 9879, both inclusive, <br />of the General Code, and emergency vehicles of municipal or countydepartments or pub- <br />lic utility corporations~ when identified as such as required by law or the Director, <br />and motor vehicles when commandeered by a police officer, ambulances, and motor ve- <br />hicles when used by firemen responding to emergency calls in the Fire Department <br />service. ' <br /> <br /> Explosives, The term ,.explosive" or "explosives" whenever used in this ordin- <br />ance shall be held to mean and include any chemical compound or mechanical mixture <br />that is intended for the purpose of producing an explosion, that contains ar~ oxidiz- <br /> <br /> <br />
