Section 28° The driver of a vehicle intending to turn at an intersection shall <br />do so as follows: <br /> <br /> (a) APproach for a right turn and a right turn shall be made as close as prac- <br />ticable to the right-hand curb or edge of the street. <br /> <br /> (b) At any intersection where traffic is permitted to move in both directions <br />on each street entering the intersection, an approach for a left turn shall be made in <br />that portio$ of the right half of the street nearest the center line thereof and by <br />passing to the right of such center line where it enters the intersection and after <br />entering the intersection the left turn shall be made so as to leave the intersection <br />to the right of the center line of the street being entered. Whenever practicable the <br />left turn shall be made in that portion of the intersection to the left of the Center <br />cf the intersection. <br /> <br /> (c) At any intersection where traffic is restricted to one ~irection on one or <br />more of'the streets~ the driver cf a vehicle intending tc turn left at any such inter- <br />section shall approach the intersection in the extreme left-hand lane.lawfully avail- <br />able to traffic moving in the direction of travel of such vehicle and after entering ~ <br />the intersection the left turn shall be made so as to leave the intersection, as nearly <br />as practicable, in the left-hand lane lawfully available to traffic moving in such <br />direction upon the street being entered. <br /> <br /> (d) The operator of a trackless trolley shall cOmply with the foregoing provi- <br /> sions in this section wherever practicable~ <br /> <br /> (d) The Director of Public Safety may cause markers, buttons, or signs to be <br /> Placed within or adjacent to intersections and thereby require and direct that a diff- <br /> erent course from that specified in this section be traveled by vehicles, certain types <br /> of vehicles, street cars or trackless trolleys, turnLn~ at an intersection, and when <br /> markers, buttons, or Signs are so placed no operator of a vehicle, street.car or track- <br /> less trolley shall turn such vehicle, street car or trackless trolley at an intersec~ <br /> tion other than as directed and required by such markers, buttons, or signs. <br /> Section 29. No vehicle shall be turned so as to proceed in the opposite di- <br /> rectionupon any curve, or upon the approach to, or near the crest of a grade, where <br /> such vehicle cannot be seen by the driver of any other vehicle approaching from either <br /> direction within five hundred feeto <br /> SeCtion 30. (a) No ~erson shallstart ~ vehicle, street car or trackless ~ <br /> trolley which is stopped, standing, or parked unless and until such movement can be <br /> made with reasonable safety. <br /> <br /> (b) Before hacking, operators of vehicles, street cars or trackless trolleys, <br /> shall give ample warning and while backing shall exercise vigilance not to injure <br /> person or property on the street~ <br /> <br /> Section 31. (a) No person shall turn a vehicle or trackless trolley from a <br /> direct course upon a street unless and until such person shall have exercised due care <br /> to ascertain that such movement can be made with reasonable safety to other users of <br /> the street and then only after giving a clearly audible signal by sounding the horn if <br /> any pedestrian may be affected by such movement or after giving an appropriate signal <br /> in the event any traffic may be affected by such movemento <br /> (b) A signal of intention toturn right or left shall be given in sufficient time <br /> in advance of the moVement indicated to give ample warning to other users of the street <br /> who would bo affected by such movemento <br /> <br /> (c) No person shall stop or suddenly decrease the speed of a vehicle or track- <br /> less trolley without first giving an appropriate signal to the traffic immediately to <br /> the rear~ <br /> <br /> (d) Any stoP or turn signal when required herein shall be given either by means <br /> of the hand and arm or by a signal lamp or lamps or mechanical signal device, but when <br /> a vehicle is so constructed or loaded that a hand-and-arm signal would not be visible <br /> beth to the front and rear Of such vehicle then said signals must be given by such a <br /> lamp or lamps or signal deviceo <br /> <br /> <br />
