526.03 Iss~e~ce of permit for each location. <br /> <br />No resurfacing or finishing shall be performed on any howling <br />alley, gymnasium floor, dance floor or other surfaces in build- <br />ings frequented by the public, until a person authorized to <br />perform such services, within the City of Lakewood, shall ob- <br />tain a permit from the chief of the division of fire to do the <br />resurfacing or finishing in any building frequented by the public. <br /> <br />The chief of the division of fire shall cause such building:to he <br />examined, and provided that he is satisfied that all conditions <br />hereinafter specified in Section 526.05 are complied with, he <br />may issue such a per. it. <br /> <br />526.05 Regulations for resurfacing or finishing surfaces. <br /> <br />No person shall resurface or finish, with flammable or other <br />hazardous product, any bowling alley, gymnasium floor, dance <br />floor or any other surface in any building within the City of <br />Lakewood frequented by the public, except in strict conformity <br />with the following requirements: <br /> <br />A) ~hen it is necessary to resurface or finish any of said sur- <br />faces, sufficient flammable liquids will be permitted, provided <br />they are not stored on the premises more than 58 hours before <br />the work is commenced and $8 hours after the work is completed, <br />and that the person in charge of the building within which such <br />surface is located shall notify the chief of the division of <br />fire at least 25 hours before storing such flammable liquids, <br />and give similar notice to said chief of the division of fire <br />of an intent to commence the work of resurfacing or finishing. <br /> <br />B) Flammable liquids in excess of 5 gallons, intended for re- <br />surfacing or finishing such surface, shall not be stored on <br />-the premises where such work is to be done, unless a special <br />permit for such storage has been secured from the chief of the <br />division of fire. <br /> <br />C) Electrical motors and wiringof equipment used for resur- <br />facing or finishing shall conform to the requirements of the <br />National Electric Code for Hazardous Conditions, Class 1, <br />~roup D; before such motors and equipment shall be used for <br />resurfacing or finishing, they shall be inspected by a member <br />of the division of fire. <br /> <br />D) Ail areas to be resurfaced or finished shall firmt be covered <br />with an inert compound so as to reduce the danger of sparking <br />and flashing of the residue. <br /> <br />E) Ail residue removed from the surface shall be deposited into <br />metal containers with tight covers, and such residue shall be <br />disposed of immediately upon the completion of the resurfacing <br />or finishing operation. <br /> <br />F) Before starting the resurfacing or finishing work, the <br />electric power to the area where such work is to be performed <br />shall be cut off and the switch shall be sealed or locked by <br />the person performing such work. Where ii.bring is required, <br />such lights as are needed shall first be turned on and left <br />burning till such time as turned off by a member of the divi. <br />sion of fire. No ventilating fans shall be used unless of the <br />approved type as required by the National Electric Code for <br />Hazardous Locations, and all wiring to such ventilating system <br />shall conform to the requirements for hazardous locations. <br /> <br /> <br />
