An employee holding a position in any of the above classifications may from time ~o time beassigned to work in-a higher classification and SuCh ~mptoyee shall re- ceive for such temporary work, the compensation provided here- in for such higher classification. Such additional compensation Shall not be paid to Building Maintenance Men, whose hourly rate includes performance of all work assigned. Section 3~ Whenever the terms "Class A", "Class B" and"Class C" are used in this ordinance, such classifications shall be determined by the appointing authority on the basis of experience and performance° Section 4. The Director of Public Works may appoint such additional hourly employees in the several divisions as may be required from time to time on a temporary basis, at the rate of compensation fixed herein for said classification. Provided, however, that such temporary employees provided for herein, shall be classed as temporary and shall~.not be eligible for the benefits provided in Sections 143.01~to~43.08, both in- clusive, of the Codified Ordinances, for ~uil time permanent hourly employees. Section 5. Ail compensation provided for herein shall be paid in equal semi-monthly installments or in equal install- ment~S every two weeks. Section 6o That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and, provided it receives the affirmative vote of two- thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor, and Ordinance No. 33-64 adopted March 16, 1964, and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent here- with, shall be and are hereby repealed.
