ORDINANCE NO. 51-70 BY: Messrs. Graber, Huffman, <br /> Ke!~ley, Usher, Ward, Wendling, <br /> Gaydos <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to prowide for 'the submission to <br />the electorate of an amendment to The Amended Charter of the City of <br />Lakewood, Ohio, by enacting a new Section 8 of Article VI thereof, <br />to provide for equal rates of pay for corresponding ranks in the Fire <br />and Police Forcesof the City of Lakewood, Ohio, <br /> WHEREAS, an emergency exists in that this Charter amend- <br />ment is to be presented to the electorate of the City of Lakewood at <br />the general election to be held on the 3rd day of November, 1970, and, <br /> WHEREAS, This ordinance constitutes an emergency measure <br />providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety <br />and welfare and for the usual daily operation of municipal depart- <br />ments; now, therefore~ <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE <br /> OF OHIO, TWO-THIRDS OF ALL MEMBERS ELECTED THERETO CONCURRING: <br /> Section 1. That the question of the amendment of The <br /> Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood enacting new Section 8 of <br /> Article VI, so that same shall be and read as follows: <br /> Section 8''. To provide for equal rates of pay for <br /> ' corresponding ranks in the Fire and Police <br /> Forces of the City of Lakewood, ohiO. <br /> <br /> "For the year 1971 and thereafter, the Council shall establish <br /> the same employment compensation schedules for each corres- <br /> ponding rank of the Police Force and Fire Force, as enumer- <br /> ated in the Code and Charter of the City of Lakewood, so <br /> that the employment compensation schedules shall be the <br /> same for the Fire Chief and the Police Chief, for Assistant <br /> Fire Chief and Police Captain, for Fire Captain, Fire <br /> Marshall and Police Lieutenant, for Firemen-Group 1 and <br /> Patrolmen and Policewomen-Group 1, for Firemen-Group 2 <br /> and Patrolmen and Policewomen-Group 2, for Firemen-Group <br /> 3 and Patrolmen and Policewomen-Group 3. This section <br /> shall not apply to employment compensation schedules <br /> for special positions established by ordinance° <br /> The City shall n6t in any way reduce, delete, or diminish <br /> any other fringe benefits heretofore obtained by the Fire <br /> .Force and all subsequent fringe benefits obtained shall be <br /> equal." <br />be submitted to a vote of the qualified electors of the City at the <br />general election to be held on Tuesday, the 3rd day of November, 1970, <br />at the regular places of voting in the City between the hours of <br />6:30 a.mo and 6:30 p.m. <br /> Section 2. That the ballots for the said election shall, <br />at the top thereof, be entitled "City Charter Amendment Ballot" and <br />the question to be submitted on said ballot shall be in words follow- <br />ing: <br /> "Shall the proposed amendment enacting new Section 8 of <br /> Article VI of The Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood: ~ <br /> For the year 1971 and thereafter, the Council shall <br /> establish the same employment compensation schedules ~for <br /> each corresponding rank of the Police Force and the Fire <br /> Force, as enumerated in the code and Charter of the City <br /> of Lakewood, so that the employment compensation schedules <br /> shall be the same for the Fire Chief and the Police Chief, <br /> <br /> <br />
